Weather Update / After-school Activities Canceled on 2/12
February 11, 2025
Dear Winnetka Families and Staff,
With snow accumulation predicted for tomorrow, the National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for the Chicago area beginning at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12 through 3 a.m. on Thursday, February 13; however the forecast has evolved, calling for the heaviest impact of the snow to fall between 7 p.m. and 12 a.m. Wednesday evening. As such, The Winnetka Public Schools, and all schools in New Trier Township, will be OPEN and ready to provide a safe, warm learning environment for our students tomorrow, February 12.
While we do not expect the road conditions to be challenging in the morning, all students will be allowed to immediately enter the schools as they arrive in the morning, regardless of the timing of the first bell. No students will be marked tardy.
Please allow more time to travel to school and demonstrate best safety practices as more cars may be in the drop-off line. Staff are encouraged to leave at dismissal with students tomorrow. All after-school activities are canceled, including Right At School after-school care.
We appreciate your support as we partner to ensure the safe arrival and departure of our staff and students tomorrow.
Most Sincerely,
Dr. Kelly Tess
Superintendent of Schools
