Happenings at the Hive
April 25, 2025
Dear Solon Stinger Families,
Spring is officially in the air, and with it comes a fresh sense of energy and excitement here at Solon! The sunshine and blooming flowers are lifting our spirits, and it’s been wonderful to see students enjoying the warmer weather during recess and outdoor learning opportunities. There’s a certain buzz around The Hive as we head into the final stretch of the school year—with plenty of learning, laughter, and fun still ahead!
This time of year also marks ILEARN testing for our upper grades. Our students have been working hard all year, and we are proud of the focus and perseverance they’re showing as they demonstrate what they’ve learned. Teaching and learning continue full steam ahead in every classroom, and we’re so impressed by the growth, curiosity, and joy we see in our learners every day.
As always, there’s lots happening at The Hive, so be sure to read on for all the exciting events and celebrations coming up—we can’t wait to share them with you!
Yours in learning,
The Solon Robinson Elementary Team

If you believe there is an error with a notice, please contact the school library as soon as possible. Books not returned by June 2 will be considered lost. All fines for lost and damaged library books will be available in PowerSchool no later than June 23. Please note, book fines will not be reversed or refunded if a book is found after the fine is entered.
Many different camps are offered in our district throughout the summer. Be sure to check out all of the opportunities at this link. From theater, to Latin, to sports, to art and music, there is something for every student!

What's Happening in Fourth Grade?
From learning about the Earth and its features to sailing the high seas with pirates and hunting for treasure, 4th grade has been jammed pack with fun and learning! In February they enjoyed having special visitors on Grandparent's Day. We played BINGO and made a picture frame. In April our 4th graders shined with their amazing musical talents during their music program. They even played their recorders to Eye of a Tiger!
Mrs. Cora's Class
Mrs. Cora's class enjoyed reading Treasure Island and becoming one of the pirates! They made hats, eye patches, and a spyglass to help them on their journey. Each student was able to find their pirate name and design a pirate to look just like them! For Valentine's Day they were able to mix a little STEM in with fun by seeing who could build the tallest tower. Each group had to work together to figure out the best way to build a tower without it falling down!
Mrs. Lopez's Class
Mrs. Rice's Class
Mrs. Rice's class made pirate hats, eye patches and a periscope. They also discovered what their individual "pirate" names would be and proudly displayed them on their lockers.
