Picture Day!!

School Picture Day is Tuesday, September 19th. Students received information regarding ordering pictures last week, and will also get the same information on September 19th. All pictures can be purchased online through lifetouch.com.

Graduate Profile

Our Graduate Profile is a summary of the knowledge and skills that we intend each student to possess when they graduate from the Necedah Area School District. It focuses on 4 key areas: Citizenship, Communication Skills, Life Skills, and World-Class Knowledge. Below is our definition of each of these areas:

Citizenship: Students will understand their relationship to the world they live in as shown by demonstrating respectful, engaged, dependable, and self-controlled behaviors that inspire confidence and persistence in themselves and others.

Communication Skills: Students will develop the ability to model empathetic listening skills with others, while also interpreting and creating communications to various audiences via appropriate media technologies and personal interactions.

Life Skills: Students will become prepared for life and career by focusing on critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity/imagination, and collaboration/teamwork using passions, interests, and strengths.

World-Class Knowledge: Students will meet rigorous standards in Language Arts and Mathematics for college readiness. Future readiness also includes students studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), World Language, Arts, and Social Sciences.

How do these come to fruition in our classrooms? Here are a few examples:

Citizenship is exemplified through our Cardinal REDS behavior expectations, which stands for Responsibility, Engaged, Dependable, Self-Controlled. We teach and model these expectations in all settings in our school.

Communication Skills are practiced and used in almost every part of a student’s school experience. In particular, students enhance their communication skills by communicating their learning through presentations, collaborating with teachers and classmates, and using technology to enhance their learning.

Life Skills are ingrained in all of our classes through learning experiences that foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. The ability to collaborate with others is an important skill that we value and consistently give students an opportunity to improve upon in all classes.

World-Class Knowledge brings everything together through the content and standards that students learn in their classes.

Our Graduate Profile guides our mission and vision of student learning in our district. It is important to note that our Profile not only includes content and standards, but essential life skills for our students’ success after graduation, regardless of their post-secondary path. Our goal is for students to learn essential content and standards, but to attain vital life and communication skills needed to be successful in all areas of their lives.
