Ravenna Middle School
Notes from Nista
Dear Ravenna Middle School Families,
As we approach spring break, I want to thank you for your continued support and involvement in your student's education. We're gearing up for a busy and exciting final stretch of the school year, and your partnership is crucial to making it a success!
Preparing for State Assessments
Upon returning from break, students will be participating in important state assessments. Ensuring your child is well-rested, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school ready to do their best will greatly enhance their ability to succeed. We encourage discussions at home emphasizing the importance of putting forth their best effort, completing homework consistently, and staying positively engaged at school.
*Students will need to bring wired head phones for all testing days*
Survey Insights and Improvement Opportunities
Thank you to those who have completed our Ravenna Middle School survey. Your input is incredibly valuable! Students recently shared their views, revealing some noteworthy points:
5th & 6th Grade Students expressed positive feelings about clear school rules, respectful teachers, safety, and adult support. However, they highlighted challenges in peer interactions, specifically how classmates treat each other and how classroom behavior sometimes disrupts learning. This presents an important opportunity for growth, and we plan to address it through focused activities and discussions on kindness, empathy, and cooperation.
7th & 8th Grade Students rated their personal behaviors such as fairness, honesty, and helpfulness highly but were more critical when rating their peers. They noted issues with respect and courtesy among classmates, indicating room for improvement. We will prioritize activities that build empathy and encourage students to appreciate different perspectives, fostering a more supportive and respectful environment.
The parent survey remains open until after spring break. If you have not yet shared your feedback, please take a moment to do so—we value your perspective! Survey results will be published following the break.
Thank you again for your ongoing support. Have a wonderful spring break—we look forward to seeing everyone back rested and ready to finish the year strong!
Warm regards,
Robert J. Nista

Student Food Delivery
Due to the growing availability of food delivery services and the distractions they create during the school day, Ravenna Middle School will no longer allow food to be delivered by outside vendors such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, or local restaurants/gas stations. These services have become a new issue, leading to disruptions in learning and concerns around safety and supervision. Moving forward, only parents or guardians may bring in food for their child.
Current RMS Policy: Food delivered by parents and guardians, must be consumed in the lunchroom during their child's designated lunch time. Any drinks or slushies not finished will need to be disposed of in the lunchroom.
Student Fees
Our tech department has recently started sending out student fee statements. Payments are accepted via cash, check, or card in the office. If you have any questions about the fees, please reach out to our MS office.
