Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families-
This Monday we officially kicked of VERDE LOCO month with an all-school assembly. Our wacky ASB officers did a comical running skit throughout the assembly with a Scooby Doo theme, joined by Michael Jackson, and lots of their usual corny jokes. A mysterious ghost haunted the assembly and was thankfully revealed to not actually be a real ghost, but it was ASB President, Cooper Shadd! The most impressive part of the assembly was our performance groups. Many of you have seen an individual group perform here or there, but what we experienced here were multiple groups who are all at the top of their region or state in what they do—all performing back to back! It’s a pure adrenaline rush of energy, athleticism, and talent! They work so hard at their craft, and I’m always so proud to see all that they are capable of. Cheer, Dance, Winterguard, and Indoor Percussion put on a true Spectacle of Sights and Sounds that we are so fortunate to get to enjoy!
Another great Ridgeline student is pictured with me here, senior Warrick Duarte. You might recognize his photo from the March edition of the Splash where he was recognized for student of the month. Warrick is a very humble guy who enjoys helping other people. As captain of our robotics team, he really embodies the team and school mission of creating a sense of belonging. Our robotics team has won awards for demonstrating the highest level of teamwork and
comraderie- a testament to Warrick’s leadership. I’ve personally asked him to help me with certain projects at school and he always says yes and gets it done well before the due date. One of my first memories of Warrick was after a school event of some kind and here he was lingering around picking up garbage, moving furniture, and just getting the job done! Check out the Splash article for more on Warrick, and also our State Champ, Athlete of the Week, Julianne Stevenson!
Powderpuff Football kicked-off Tuesday night with a battle between Freshman and Sophomores, followed by a second game between the Juniors and Seniors. The girls have a lot of fun with this and so many turned out again this year. This is way more about being a part of a fun event than it is playing time and stats! We could see the dark clouds moving in all afternoon and there were times we were getting dumped on! I don’t think any of the kids noticed or cared—whether you were in the stands, on the sidelines, or playing in the game—everyone was having a great time! Both games were very close and competitive. The sophomores emerged victorious with an 8-6 victory to win their 50 VERDE LOCO points and the trophy. The seniors and juniors went to ‘sudden death’ where the seniors scored a touchdown to win it with their all-around go-to player Emmy Van Lith who caught a great pass from Reagan Rothley to seal the final score and the win! 50 Verde Loco points for the seniors and sweet redemption after losing in ‘sudden death’ their junior year! We had a great crowd of students on hand and they were led by the man-leaders (under careful supervision by our real cheerleaders) to get the crowd going and to have a ton of fun! This night is like a time long ago when kids would just get together in the park and play a game, late at night, and in the rain… just for fun. That’s exactly what it was—hanging out with your friends, talking a little smack, and at the end of the night—everyone walked away with a memory that will last a lifetime.
Next week we will get very serious with the Hall Decorating competition. The full effect of our class themes will emerge and the winner will garner more Verde Loco points. This is a time when the school hallways take on a whole other look and the spirit of the Ridgeline Falcons comes to light!
Next week we will hold our annual spring Prom Fashion Show sponsored by DECA and FBLA on Wednesday night. Come join us to see everyone in their formal wear as they strut the runway and get us ready for the big event, that is the PROM.
We also look forward to hosting our Future Falcons and their families on Tuesday night for our open house for incoming freshman for the 25-26 school year. Is it just me, or is it kind of surreal to be talking about 2025-2026 like this??
Spring sports already start competing next week so check your schedule on our web page to catch some of our athletes in action. Let’s hope the spring weather stays around so we can ALL enjoy these outdoor spring activities!
FYI—there is No School Friday, March 07- snow make-up day not needed!

Ridgeline's 2025 Spokane Lilac Festival Royal Court
After eight weeks of intensive training and volunteer events, Bethany Olstad, gave a speech and participated in an interview to earn a spot on the final Lilac Court and receive a scholarship from the Spokane Lilac Festival Association. Her dedication, leadership, and passion for community service stood out, securing her this prestigious honor.
Now, Bethany will continue her journey with weekly training exercises and community events, including parades and more intimate engagements where she will connect with and serve the Spokane community. We are incredibly proud of Bethany and can't wait to see all she accomplishes as a Lilac Princess!
