2022-2023 Eagle Extra
Clear Lake Intermediate - October 23, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Eagle Families,
Another great week in the books and we have already made it to Red Ribbon Week. Our CLI Student Council has created themes for each day for our students to join in on highlighting the importance of being drug free. Please look below for more information about how your Eagle can show their support each day at school. With this topic in mind, an increasing trend across our nation is students engaging in the use of vapes. Vapes come in many sizes and forms, as the companies making these devices are doing so in a way to make them โunnoticeableโ. Additionally, it is very easy to purchase these camouflaged devices too. (Just to see how easy it is, I encourage you to search โvapesโ on Amazon.com and review the list of devices that are available at the click of a button.) During your daily discussions with your Eagle about their day, if you hear of a student having a vape, or any other illegal device, at school, please contact one of our school administrators with this information. We also have the CCISD โSee Something Say Somethingโ app the makes it easy to send in this information too. Thank you for your support in helping us keep our school safe for all Eagles!
Please peruse the rest of our newsletter to stay up with our weekโs activities and updated information for the week.

EAGLE EXPECTATIONS WHILE AT NIGHT EVENTS
We encourage all Eagles to attend and support our Eagle Teams by attending as many events as possible to root them on. (We also encourage our parents to attend with them as well.) If you send your Eagle by themselves to CLI Athletic Games this is acceptable, however, we do have expectations to ensure that our events remain safe for all. Please note the following:
- Students must meet the requirements to attend the event,
- Students attending independently must have their badge to get into the event,
- Students are expected to follow all campus and district rules,
- Students are not able to leave and then re-enter,
- Students will be given 1 warning for any behavior not aligned with campus and district expectations. On the 2nd offense, the student will be expected to be picked up by their parent immediately.
Free and Reduced Lunch Program
GRACE PERIOD ENDED SEPTEMBER 29.
If your child received F&R program services last year, but you have not submitted your application for this year, you child will be removed from the program by Child Nutrition . This means that your student will not be able to purchase breakfast or lunch on campus without cash-in-hand or a SchoolCafe account from you. Please make sure that you have re-upped your child's account ASAP if you need these services.
How to Apply
To qualify for benefits, a parent/guardian must complete a F/R Benefits application each year. Please only complete one application per household.
Online Applications may be completed online here. Please use the following link for detailed instructions on completing the online application:
- How to Apply for Free and Reduced-Price Meal Benefits Using the Online Application
- Cรณmo solicitar beneficios de comida gratis o de precio reducido usando la aplicaciรณn en lรญnea
Parents are welcome to visit the Child Nutrition Office to apply online. Our office is located at 2145 W. NASA Blvd., Webster, TX 77598.
A new application MUST be completed each school year. Students who participate in the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program in Clear Creek ISD during the previous school year will continue to receive the same benefits for the first 30 days of the new school year or until a new application has been processed. After the first 30 days if a new application has not been received and processed, the student will return to full-pay status.
Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications may take up to 10 operating days to process. Online Meal Application processing will result in a faster response time. Parents will be notified by email or letter once the application has been processed. Students not on the free or reduced-price meal program will be charged for all meals until the meal application is processed and approved. Payment for those charged meals will be required.
School Safety
School safety is our (both home and school) most important jobs within our school. Our district has taken additional precautions for this school year, to which you can review on our district's website (www.ccisd.net). Specifically at CLI, please help support the safety of our campus by adhering to the following:
- It is imperative that you talk to your student every day before and after school. Ask your student what parts of the day they liked the most and what parts of the day did they not like. Although some of our students, at this age, act like they do not 'appreciate' their parents asking a lot of questions, they really do. And, as parents, it is still our responsibility to do so, pushing through the urge to let them opt out of conversations with their parents. How does this help with safety you ask? Staying connected with our children (with open communication being the norm) is an incredible safety support!
- Students will not be able to come in our school building until 8:15 a.m. Please do not allow your student to come onto campus until 8:15 a.m. We do not have adult supervision before 8:15 a.m., therefore any student dropped off before this time will not be supervised, and we highly discourage unsupervised students outside of our school building at any time.
- After school, students are expected to go to the designated place that your family decides (not on campus), unless a teacher has asked them to stay after. If this is the case, prompt pick up is required so that we do not have unsupervised students around our campus.
- CLI encourages everyone to come out and support our after school sporting events. However, students are required to "go home" after school. Students are not able to "hang out" around our campus after school due to no adult supervision available.

Join the Clear Lake Intermediate PTA
Congratulations to CLIS PTA we have 125 members so far! We have met the requirements for the Head Start Award, the Early Bird Achievement Award, and the Snappy Increase Award. We would love to keep the momentum going and get that Golden Apple Award. This requires 100% of the faculty to join our PTA by the end of November. We know this is a BIG ask but we feel that we can make it happen. Please consider joining our PTA and helping us Back the Future at
Remember to submit a Volunteer application with CCISD
FOOD SERVICES
Parents can set up a SchoolCafe account for their child by following the link below. Money for breakfast and lunch can be deposited and students will use their identification badge to purchase food from the cafeteria. Depositing money helps parents keep track of their child's lunch money spending and keeps your child from having to keep up with their cash during the day.

CELL PHONES / EAR BUDS
Eagles are expected to model Core Values at all times. By placing cell phones out of sight so that you can stay actively engaged in your own learning, you are demonstrating Responsibility and Respect. For students who choose not to comply, your phone will be confiscated by your teacher and returned at the end of the school day. Multiple infractions will result in disciplinary consequences.

Technology Information
Do you know how to help your student with the various online platforms he or she might need to be successful in intermediate school? Here are some resources to help you and your child.
For STUDENTS:
Login to the CCISD SSO Portal
The SSO portal makes logging in to other applications more seamless. The portal has links to all the main web tools you will need (Skyward, itsLearning, textbooks, etc.).
* You should use the same username and password that you used to login to your laptop.
Finding your classes in itsLearning**
Once you login to the SSO portal, you can click on the itsLearning app, and you do not need to login to ItsLearning separately.
* This is a generic overview of itsLearning basics and is not CCISD-specific. See the CCISD Student Resources page above for more info.
Checking your grades and class schedule in Skyward**
Online gradebook
How to find applications on your computer (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) and pin them to your taskbar or to your start menu
Try pinning Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel to your taskbar or to your start menu for easy access.

Anonymous Alert Link
CCISD continues to implement and improve upon our anonymous system for reporting safety concerns. These concerns can include safety violations on campus, threats, harassment, bullying and self-harm. Because school safety is dependent upon every member of our community, if you see or hear of something that concerns you, we ask you to report it, or submit your concern using the Anonymous Alert system.
When submitting concerns, please make sure that you report all information (names, description, location, time, etc.) in order to help with a quick response. We investigate every tip submitted.
We also ask that parents and students load the app on your phone. Emergency alerts and school closure information is sent out via this application.
