Week 28
Last week's sixth grade citizen summit was amazing! Students got to experience the college, network with local folks who are engaged in key work around issues of global citizenship and engage in inquiry in new ways. Thank you so much to the folks who organized and volunteered to share expertise and thank you to MUHS for engaging with us in this activity!
We are getting closer to the end of the Quarter which is next Friday April 4th. Please check in with your student about their work, so you have a sense before the Quarter ends of how your student is progressing relative to proficiency. If you have questions, please encourage your student to connect with their teachers.
Lastly, we will be holding the VTCAP state assessment the week of April 7th. We will test Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of that week. We will run a regular ERD schedule on Wednesday the 9th. Our 8th graders will take the Science test the following week in Science classes. Please do your best to have your student present at school during this testing period, which will reduce the need for make ups which would dip further into classes later in the month.
Thank you for your continued partnership and have a great weekend.
Best,
Michaela

Spotlight on March Madness in the MUMS Library!
Our library is currently in the middle of the 6th annual MUMS March (Book) Madness. This week, students are voting for their two favorites in the final four, and next week they will vote for the championship. Like past years, the student who filled out a bracket that most accurately matches the voting will receive a free copy of the winning book! Below, check out the bracket and Ms. Ford surrounded by the latest round of more than 80 ballots. We celebrate our knowledgeable and inquiring participants, and encourage everyone to keep voting (and reading)!

802 Smiles Dental Spring Visits
This past Fall, ACSD schools participated in the 802 Smiles Dental Hygiene Program and this was very successful. I'm excited to share that we are once again partnering with dental hygienist, Michael Messina, to offer free dental screenings and preventative care to all ACSD students this Spring. He will be providing these services the week of April 14-18 with the specific schedule to be determined.
Please complete the forms below if you would like your child to participate in this event. Any student that was enrolled in the fall will automatically be on the list to receive services and does not need to fill out the forms again, but if you do not want your student to receive services in April, you should reach out to the school nurse to take them off the list.
Enrollment deadline is April 1st.
Student Attendance (absences/dismissals) and Bus Notes
- To report your child absent from school or notify us of an early dismissal please leave us a message on our attendance line by calling 382-1297 before 8:30 AM.
- If you send a student to school with an early dismissal note or bus note they should bring them the office before TA.
- All students taking a bus to another place other than home need a bus note from their caregiver. This note needs to be stamped/signed by one of our Administrative Assistant's in the front office. Students will not be allowed to ride a bus to another location without a note from home that is stamped/signed by the office.
Help Improve our Volunteer Program!
Do you volunteer in our schools? Join Superintendent Wendy Baker for a discussion about how to streamline, strengthen, and improve our volunteer program at ACSD schools. We will schedule a time to meet this fall to gather your feedback. Interested?
