JACKSON JOTS FOR FAMILIES
WEEK OF OCT 14TH
MISSION
Lakewood...a family friendly, inclusive community dedicated to empowering every learner through innovation, collaborative problem-solving, and consistent communication.
VISION
Reimagining education, instilling community pride, inspiring future success.
OCTOBER IS NATIONAL BULLY PREVENTION MONTH
One of the goals for our students is to help them to make the world a better place. One way we can do that is to educate them on what the word "bully" means and how to tell the difference from being a bully to being mean and rude. Our school social worker, Diana Alexander, along with our SROs have been visiting classes and going over this information to help our students help themselves in standing up to bullying. They also discuss the difference between being a by-stander and an up-stander.
Words hold power and we work with our students to understand this on a daily basis. We work with students on how to express themselves when they are angry, sad, happy, and confused. We work with our students to understand that some words have no place in our school and will not be permitted . We work with our students to help them problem solve issues rather than using words that hit harder than any fist.
We need your help with this work and would like to have your input on how to make our community a better place to learn and grow. I will be hosting our Fall Parent Forum on Oct 28th from 5-6 in our Library here at JIS. The purpose of this forum is to help our students. I hope that you will attend.
If at any time you have a question or concern, please feel free to reach out to me at 740-928-1915 or at bacline@lakewoodlocal.k12.oh.us.
