First Grade Dyslexia Family Night

We had 15 parents attend representing 12 students for 1st grade at-risk dyslexia parents' night. Mrs. Lyles presented the parents with information regarding the required screener, results, and next steps for intervention and evaluations. Parents' questions were answered and online resources and supports were given. Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Vega, and Mrs. Kirk attended to greet parents and help with the art project. Mrs. Walker and Mrs. Vega will begin the dyslexia program this summer and will be invaluable assets to the dyslexia team. Parents were given some resources to help at home- sight word folder with sticker chart, magnetic letters and trays, and activities instructions.

The students in Mrs. Barbee's kindergarten class earned 5000 Dojo points. They celebrated on Friday afternoon.

Published Authors

It’s an exciting time in our kindergarten classrooms! Mrs. Parsons' class has finished writing and illustrating a book and are sending it in for publishing soon. Now they can say they are authors of a REAL book!

Throughout this project, our students developed a love of writing. They have been so excited. The entire class has worked so hard on the book and I can’t wait for you to see it!

BISD Baord Goal 2: Attract and retain high quality staff by offeringcompetitive compensation, great working conditions and recognizing excellence in performance.

We have two teachers interested in training to become Dyslexia Therapist/Certified Academic Language Thrapist. This is a two year training course. Monica Vega and Ashley Walker will begin their course work this summer with McKinney Christan Academy's Multisensory Teacher Training Program. These ladies submitted applications and were selected to represent Bonham ISD.
