Short Avenue IB Learners Strive to Be...
Mr. Lamb's Updates
Happy Weekend Short Avenue Families and Friends!
This has been a wonderful two weeks of school and I hope that all of our students and families are now getting into the rhythm of the school day cycle with going to bed on time and getting to school on time.
This week we welcome our parents to our adults-only Back to School Night event. The schedule is below and we hope that all of our families are able to attend to meet your childβs teacher and to learn more about the academic expectations this school year.
We continue to work hard to keep families informed. We have this Weekly Wave. We have Class DoJo. We have our school website that is still being tweaked and updated. Another tool that all families need is the Parent Portal. Every student, 100%, needs to have at least one member of their family connected to this portal. We sent home unique information required for completing this task and we are here to help as well. If you have not yet joined, please join this week.
In the coming days we are going to be sending home Covid tests with all students and staff. The reality is that while Covid is endemic, it is also still very much present in our communities and our lives. We have many Covid tests at Short Ave and I very much want to save our families the stress and cost of having to purchase tests.
Finally, please make sure your calendars are updated. There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, August 30. There is also NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 2. There is a calendar on Class DoJo and our website to assist all of you with planning and staying up to date.
The heat remains so please stay hydrated, please stay safe, and please enjoy the rest of your weekend.
See you Monday!
Mr. Lamb

Birthday Policy
Families,
We want to remind you of our birthday party policy. In an effort to be equitable and keep our students healthy, we do NOT allow caregivers to send in cupcakes and treats for birthdays. While classes may organize celebrations for various occasions throughout the year, birthday parties should be held outside of school. Parents are welcome to arrange with the teacher to read a story in their child's class, or lead a fun birthday activity. Additionally, parents are welcome to donate something special to the class in honor of their child. We understand that birthdays are special , and every student and staff member will be recognized with a birthday song at our monthly assemblies.
