Brown's Buzz 🐝
Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week has been a difficult one. All of us have been affected in some shape or form; yet our community has stayed strong and persevered. We are providing a couple of tools that you can use if needed to discuss the event with your child. Please see the message from the counselors below for this information.
Thank you for your support and your valued opinions about a couple of our operating procedures here at WMES.
After discussing with some members of our Community, School Council, Law Enforcement, Students, and Staff, we will make a few adjustments. Please see below:
- Field Day will be closed to the community. Activities will be run by our staff members this year.
- Due to our growing population/space, and security reasons, for now eating lunch with students in the cafeteria will be suspended.

A Message from our Counselors 😄
Supporting Students through Traumatic Events
In light of the recent events in Barrow County, we recognize the importance of supporting our students through these challenging times. To help you provide effective support, we have gathered valuable resources from the National Association of School Psychologists and the Dougy Center: National Center for Grieving Children & Families. We hope that these materials can support you in speaking with your child about tragedy and/or grief.
Your Child’s Attendance Matters!
We hope to see our students daily! Regular attendance is crucial for their success.
If your child is out sick:
- Please provide an excuse note or a doctor’s note to the teacher within 5 days of your child’s return to school.
Planned Absences:
- Communicate with your child’s teacher if you know they will be absent.
For more information:
- Refer to the parent handbook or your child’s teacher for guidance on excused and unexcused absences and our tardy policy.
