As the first school year conducted entirely under the “new normal” quickly draws to a close, it brought with it challenges and change that was nothing short of transformative in many aspects of our lives.
One of the most impactful changes brought about by the pandemic has been a greater appreciation for our teachers’ creativity, determination, and skill. This week, National Teacher Appreciation week, provided us with a special opportunity to celebrate our teaching staff and how much they mean to TCSC. Our teachers are among the true superheroes who found new ways to continue meaningful education with virtual classrooms, at home learning lessons, and the resiliency to meet the moment of this year at every turn.
I can’t say enough about how much I appreciate the pivotal role our educators play in our children’s lives—inspiring a lifelong love of learning and discovery and making a difference in their well-being and long-term success even under the most stressful, and at times, difficult and fluid conditions. Their immense commitment and dedication to their students over the past year is moving beyond words. Thank you for being a defining part of our student’s lives.
Speaking of appreciation, Monday evening TCSC bid a heartfelt farewell to those educators and staff retiring at the end of the school year on Monday evening. They include, Tim Calloway (Ag Education), Cathy Ferguson (Art Teacher), Tammy Sullivan (Athletic Secretary), Susan Forkner (1st Grade Teacher), Lori Mauck (2nd Grade Teacher), Jim Thomas (5th Grade Teacher), Carol Christenberry (Media Center Aide), and Robin Parr (Transportation).
The combined service of these eight individuals represents 165 years of commitment, dedication, and excellence to the district. They were vital members of our team and incredible role models. Their contributions helped make our corporation what it is today. They will be missed. We wish them all the best as they begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives. Thank you to our partners at the Tipton County Foundation for providing funding to help make this special event possible.
We are looking forward to hosting commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2021 in the high school gymnasium on Saturday, May 29 from 11 a.m. to noon. This year we have adjusted to new ways of learning, studying, and communicating. The collaborative patience, persistence, and optimism helped fuel the drive to the finish line and we are truly excited to celebrate our graduate’s success!
In other Blue Devil highlights this past week, THS inducted 18 new members to the National Junior Honor Society and the TMS Boys Golf Team brought home the MIC Championship title. Congratulations!
Thank you for your tremendous efforts in helping to keep our buildings open and kids in class this last semester of this incredible school year. It truly takes a village! #TiptonPride
