This Week on the Ridge
📙📓📃Working with Author, Dean Coe📙📓📃
Introducing our Writing Club for The Sandwich Arts Alliance book, Where’s Sandwich (working title). This is part of our yearlong celebration honoring Thorton Burgess. We have ten enthusiastic students whose writing and artwork will likely be included in the SAA book. It appears that half of the students have chosen to write about some aspect of Sandwich's history. The Glass Factory and Museum, Hoxie House, and the ten founding fathers were topics of interest. The Sandwich boardwalk was the other primary subject of interest. One student may create a story about the boardwalk and a Thornton Burgess Character. Club members were given my email address and invited to send any questions about their projects. These questions will be addressed in the following club session. In our next session, Donna Harrison, literary coordinator at Sandwich Arts Alliance, will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the upcoming book. She will also bring copies of the latest SAA publication about the Sandwich Boardwalk. In our third session, William Daley, a local historian, has agreed to be with us for a group interview about Sandwich history. We are so excited for these budding authors to be part of this program. We will share once their work is published.

Teachers have sent out invitations to their homeroom families. If you would like to meet with a Specialist Teacher, Special Education Teacher or Related Service Provider, please reach out and they will help you with sign up slots. We look forward to seeing you!
Class Placement Input
It's hard to believe that we are already beginning to look toward the next school year, but at this time each year, we ask parents for input regarding their child that would aid in the class placement process.
Although we do not take requests for specific teachers or specific friends, we will do our best to avoid combinations that have not worked in the past between individuals. Please note we do not keep avoidances from previous school years, so please identify any avoidances.*Complete a form for each child you have in Oak Ridge next year.
From the Social Workers
Hello Oak Ridge Families! Thank you to those parents who were able to attend our first social work Meet and Greet! It is always great to be able to connect with families and share more about how we can support your students. Be on the lookout for information coming soon for the next session of our series in April. As we enter the Spring, it is a great time to reset and reflect with students on their goals and priorities for the remainder of the school year. Now is a great time to connect with your student’s teachers and specialists to continue your home to school partnership. As always please reach out if you have any concerns, questions, or needs!
Sincerely,
Claire Poole and Katie Hegg
