The Weekly Roar
Wrightsboro Family Newsletter- Week of August 14
Greetings Cool Cat Families!
The new school year is quickly approaching and we can't wait to welcome back all of our families.
We have many new families and staff joining us this school year and we are so excited to have them as part of our Cool Cat Family. 🦁
Important Upcoming Dates to Remember:
- August 24- Open House from 4:00-6:00
- August 28- 1st day of school
- August 28-30- Kindergarten Staggered Entry
Kindergarten Staggered Entry
Kindergarten students will not be assigned to a teacher's roster prior to the start of school. New Hanover County Schools uses the first 3 days of school as a staggered start for all Kindergarten students.
By August 22nd, parents will be notified of their child's staggered start date via phone call. Please plan to attend Open House so you can meet all 5 of our Kindergarten teachers.
Our staff will take the first 3 days of school getting to know all of the students and provide them with activities and assessments that will assist us in deciding on class placements.
Parents will be notified by their child's assigned teacher on the afternoon of August 30th.
Open House
Please join us on Open House Night between 4:00-6:00pm.
Meet you child's teachers and tour the school. Meet Principal, Michelle Faison and Assistant Principal, Kendra Harrison.
Please be sure to stop by the Block Party at Wrightsboro Baptist after you meet your teachers for some music, food, and fun! We are so grateful for their partnership and the amazing event they have put together to welcome back our Cool Cat Families!
We can't wait to see everyone!!
Find Bus Route and Track the Bus!
New Hanover County Schools uses the Edulog Parent Portal smartphone app that allows parents to see where their child's bus is located in real-time. Edulog Parent Portal app can be downloaded from iTunes App Store or Google Play Store. Have your student's ID (same as cafeteria number) ready before downloading the app.

Required Beginning of Year Paperwork
Beginning of year paperwork is required for returning NHCS families and must be completed online. The beginning of the year application is now available at this link. This application is important to ensure we have accurate parent/guardian contact information.
Also, having emergency contact information on the first day of school is pivotal. We greatly appreciate your efforts in completing this information prior to the first day of school.
If you have moved or will be moving out of the Wrightsboro district before the beginning of the school year, please contact Sandra Barefoot (data manager) at sandra.barefoot@nhcs.net
NHCS: Coffee, Curriculum, Collaboration, and Conversation Event
We are thrilled to partner with parents in our community to inform them about the excellent core curriculum resources that we provide in New Hanover County Schools along with our new implementation Xello. Xello is a software that supports students in career choices and parents with monitoring their child's graduation progress. Additionally, our event will feature representation from our special education curriculum specialists, child nutrition, transportation, CTE, technology, and school safety who will be available to assist parents and answer questions they may have. Families can benefit from Spanish translation services at all three sessions.
