Athletics & Co-curricular Wrap-up 2023-24
Mike Thompson, Chi-Hi Activities Director, presented a slideshow to highlight the 2023-2024 Athletic, Co-Curricular, and Extracurricular Activities for the fall, winter, and spring seasons. This year was the inaugural season for the Chi-Hi eSports team under the direction of Harry Kellogg. The team competed in the winter season and won the State Championship! The Chi-Hi Equestrian Team is now 10 time State Champs! Cara Schueller and her team have been working with other schools to get equestrian programs started throughout the state; click here for the presentation.

Chris McMasters, Executive Director of Student Services, provided an overview of the OE-12 Learning Environment and Transportation monitoring report; the Board agrees that the District is in compliance with provisions of OE-12; click here to view the report.

Consideration of 2024-2025 Board Annual Work Plan
Peggy McKillip, Committee Chairperson, provided an overview of the 2024-2025 Board Annual Work Plan. Due to the timing of the data results, some monitoring reports have been shifted to later in the year. Consideration of Adoption of Policy Surrounding Public Notification of School Threats
Dennis Fehr, Committee Chairperson, provided an overview of the drafted policy surrounding public notification of school threats. Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, noted that this drafted policy has been vetted by Neola representatives, the District’s legal counsel, and the District’s Safety Committee; additionally, we believe that this is a clear policy on notifying the public about school threats and allows the District to provide timely, accurate information that can help ensure safety while avoiding panic; such a policy also establishes guidelines for protecting student privacy, balancing the need for transparency with the legal and ethical obligations to maintain confidentiality of student information; click here for more details.
Consideration of Employee Handbook Revisions
Jennifer Starck, Executive Director of Human Resources and Public Relations, provided an overview of the employee handbook revisions; the Board approved the 2024-2025 employee handbook revisions as presented; click here for more details.
Consideration of Compensation Ad hoc Committee Meeting Notes

Consideration of Support/Classified/Hourly Staff Compensation
Jennifer Starck, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, provided an overview of four options to consider for the support staff compensation scale - 61% percentile with a minimum of $0.40 increase; 61% percentile with a minimum of $1.00 increase; 9% increase on the 2023-24 step; 9% increase on the 2024-25 step ; the Board approved the following: The 61% percentile and $1.00 min increase for support staff, to approve the additional language items, and to allow administration to revisit the compensation scale model; click here for more details.

Secondary School Behavior Report
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, provided an overview of the secondary school behavior report which was submitted by Principal Goodman and Principal Kunsman.
Chad Trowbridge, Executive Director of Business Services and Finance, provided an enrollment update. The class sizes that are being monitored are: Halmstad Kindergarten, Southview 1st Grade, and Hillcrest 2nd Grade. This coming school year we will update our Applied Population Lab Study that focuses on historical demographics, growth in the area, changes to our demographics and what that might mean for us as a school system. We will also be updating our Master Facility Plan. Elementary attendance boundaries will also be considered during the course of this next school year.
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, provided an overview of the Neola technical changes which includes name changes to the Compliance Officer and Director of Human Resources positions and does not include any substantive or contextual alterations to Board policies.
