Sunset Lane Sunday Message
February 23, 2025
Dear Seahawk Families,
Time is flying, and we’re already in the final week of February, as well as at the end of Trimester 2! I hope everyone felt a little extra love, care, and kindness this past week as we celebrated Kindness Week. It was heartwarming to see our students embrace the spirit of kindness in so many ways. A huge shoutout to all the incredible students who participated in our Talent Show as well! Their courage, creativity, and hard work truly shined on stage. We are so proud of them. Our kiddos are simply amazing! Wishing you all a wonderful week ahead!
With warm regards,
Dr. Tracy Gyurina

APEX Summary
Thanks to everyone for your support of our biggest fundraiser of the school year. Please see the summary below, which highlights how much of a success APEX was this school year.
All the Arts Clogging Class
All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation would like to re invite ALL FSD students to join All the Arts for All the Kids Foundation and Brian Bon Powerhouse!! Percussion Dance is a 10 week class for ALL ages (inclusive class offered!) at Golden Hills Elementary School on Mondays starting at 4:00 p.m. You can check out this super fun class on YouTube by clicking here. Please see the attached flyer for more details.
Intent to Return
If you have a TK-5th grade student, please fill out this Intent to Return survey ASAP. We are still missing about 60 responses and we need this information to adequately plan for next school year. Thanks to everyone that already has filled it out. It is much appreciated.
Independent Study Update
There has been a change to our Independent Study process. From now on, we will only be able to submit an independent study request on the day you contact the office to notify us of your child's absence. We can no longer back date independent studies. In other words, you must let us know the day of your child's absence if you want an independent study, otherwise we will be unable to issue them one.

Upcoming Workshop Opportunities and Updating Emergency Contacts
Sunset Lane Families: We invite you to take a moment to review the attached flyers for important upcoming workshop opportunities (2/26/25, 3/26/25, 4/23/25) for families needing information and resources related to immigration matters. Additionally, and as highlighted by the recent fires in SoCal, we are reminded of the importance of having up-to-date emergency contact information for all of our students. We kindly ask that you check with your school office to ensure your emergency contact information is current. Keeping your contact details updated helps us reach you quickly in case of an emergency. It also lets us know who we are authorized to safely release your child to should an emergency prevent you from picking them up. Please contact our school office to share any updates to your child’s emergency contact info at (714)447-7750. Thank you very much for your time and partnership.

School Safety Reminders
Here are some friendly reminders:
- Always use crosswalks to cross the street and/or the staff parking lot. Even if accompanied by an adult, please do not cross the staff parking lot anywhere other than the crosswalks.
- Please do not walk in the middle of the staff parking lot. Use the crosswalks and sidewalk to leave campus. Since no one should be parking in the parking spots, there is no reason for you to be walking in the parking lot.
- Do not enter the staff parking lot unless you have a handicap placard or are an after school program that is picking up multiple students. Only park in the marked handicap spots or the parking lot loading zone if this applies to you. Even if you are dropping off your child/children for a before school activity, you should not be entering the staff parking lot.
- Remain in your vehicle at all times if you are in the loading zone and pull up as space becomes available. If you need to exit your vehicle, you must park across the street to do so.
- At the TK/K side gate, please drop your child/children off and promptly leave the area. This is a very small pick-up and drop-off location and we cannot have parents crowding around and blocking access to the gate and/or the sidewalk, making it unsafe for others to pass by.
- The side gate by room 208 and 210 is for bus loading and unloading only. No students should be entering or exiting campus from this location unless they are in Ms. Jahn's or Ms. Boyle's classroom.
Internet Safety
Be sure to visit FSD's Internet Safety website to learn about all of the ways you can protect your child/children and keep them safe while using technology.
