Davenport's Weekly Update
Week of January 12, 2025
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Greetings Davenport Families!
"True peace is not merely the absence of tension; it is the presence of justice". Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This week has been amazing! Our students continue to SOAR, demonstrating the values of safety, ownership, accountability, and respect in all they do. Whether in the classroom or during activities, they have shown dedication to learning and growth.
Our teachers also had a successful professional development (PD) day, discussing ways to support student success and enhance the learning environment. Their hard work and collaboration have prepared them well as we gear up for the upcoming parent-teacher conferences. We are excited for the opportunity to connect with families and celebrate the progress of each student.
As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, it is important to reflect on his mission for all people. Dr. King inspired us to do what is morally right, to treat others with kindness, and to strive for equality and justice. Let his legacy encourage us to be the best versions of ourselves, not just in school, but in our communities and beyond.
Have a wonderful weekend and a meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. Let’s continue to honor his vision through our actions and by supporting one another.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
I had the pleasure of teaching Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s message to our 2nd and 3rd grade students at Davenport Elementary this week. MLK's life and work teach many lessons, including the importance of nonviolence, equality and justice. His message of love, peace and reconciliation is inspiring, reminding us all that we can make a difference in continuing his lessons for a more peaceful existence for all!
