MKV Liaison/Special Education Case Management Support Secretary
DEPARTMENT: Special Programs
REPORTS TO: Building Principal/MTSS Director
WORK DAYS: 7 hours per day - 202 days, 1 Year Position
The position is based on program funding and the needs of the district on a year-to-year basis.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
McKinney Vento Liaison:
Identifying children and youth experiencing homelessness.
Ensuring these children are enrolled in school and have a full and equal opportunity to succeed in school.
Ensuring that children and youth experiencing homelessness and their families have access to and receive educational services for which they are eligible.
Referring children and youth experiencing homelessness and their families to health care services, dental services, mental health and substance abuse services, housing services, and other appropriate services.
Informing the parents or guardians of children and youth experiencing homelessness of the educational and related services available to their children and providing them with meaningful opportunities to participate in their children’s education.
Informing parents and guardians of children and youth experiencing homelessness and unaccompanied youth of all transportation services, including transportation to and from the school of origin.
Ensuring that unaccompanied youth are enrolled in school, have opportunities to meet state academic standards, and are informed of their status as independent students and providing verification documentation for the purposes of completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). [42 U.S.C. §11432(g)(6)(A)]
Special Education Case Management Support:
Data Input into IEP Online Systems:
Accurately input and maintain student data in the IEP Online system.
Ensure timely updates and modifications as per the IEP requirements.
Collection and Input of Present-Level Data:
Gather and record present-level academic and functional performance data for students.
Assist in the organization and presentation of data for IEP meetings and reviews.
Communication and Scheduling of IEP Meetings:
Coordinate and communicate effectively with families, educators, and related service providers to schedule IEP meetings.
Ensure all stakeholders are informed of meeting dates, times, and locations.
Support for Special Education Teachers:
Assist special education teachers in data entry tasks related to student progress monitoring and compliance.
Collaborate with teachers to ensure accurate and timely documentation of student achievements and challenges.
Administrative Support:
Maintain organized records and documentation related to student IEPs and case management activities.
Prepare materials and resources for IEP meetings and student evaluations.
REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in an educational or community advocacy-related field.
Experience working with at-risk students and families
Knowledge of secondary school programs and state and local graduation requirements.
Written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
Knowledge of basic computer software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint, Google).
Experience working semi-independently and in collaborative teams.
Human relations, time management, and personal, and organizational skills.
Flexible work schedule.
Maintain Confidentiality.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of economic, social, cultural, and psychological factors influencing at-risk students.
Experience working with secondary school-aged migrant students in an educational setting.
Knowledge of school and community resources available to migrant students and families and other at-risk students and families, including technical education, career awareness, and postsecondary education opportunities.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Office-related experience or Vocational School experience in the secretarial field is preferred.MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
