Valentine's Day Celebrations
We will celebrate Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14th. Students may bring in Valentines to share with the class. Valentine’s can be accompanied with a small trinket or goodie bag. Goodie bags will be sent home with your child. Candy may be passed out and sent home, but will not be eaten at the party. Look for more information from your child’s classroom teacher in their weekly newsletters.
Thank you to the PTO
The Davis/Richmond staff would like to sincerely thank the PTO for the generous gift of warm winter hats for staff. We really appreciate your kindness, generosity and perfect timing with the weather!

PARENT SURVEY - WE VALUE YOUR FEEDBACK
Every year, District 303 conducts a satisfaction survey eliciting feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. This year, as part of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), we will now be participating in the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. As a parent or guardian, this survey will provide you with the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness about your child’s school.
We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your suggestions for improvement. Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. To take the parent survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey. Click HERE for a more detailed letter.

Davis Drop Off Reminders - Safety First!!
Here are a few friendly reminders for using the drop off lane on Seventh Street. We want to avoid any safety issues with children arriving to school!!
Please remember to pull all the way up to the front.
Be sure to pull up to the next car to avoid gaps.
Be sure to have your child exit curbside. We have staff available to help your child out of the car with their belongings.
Please drive with extreme care and be aware of your surroundings.
Parents, when dropping off students on Horne Street please do not double park, do U Turns, or 3 point turns. Safety is a major concern in this area especially when dropping off our kindergarteners. Remember to always have your student exit curbside as you escort them to door 10. Thank you for your cooperation!
Davis Celebrates World Read Aloud Day
What an exciting week for literacy at Davis! We started our One Book One School program and the students are loving The World According to Humphrey. They are inspired to read more every night with their parents and see the videos of read-alouds from staff. We also had 2 authors visit Davis virtually this week. Non-fiction author Melissa Stewart visited our first grade students on Thursday. She shared her love of writing, read aloud some of her books, and gave some writing tips to our budding authors. Also, Ms. Thomas won a virtual author visit from author Sherry Dusky Rinker!
Snow Gear Donations
Davis is in need of snow gear for some of our little ones. If you have any gently used or new snow pants or coats (sizes 5/6, 7/ 8) or boots (sizes 11, 12, 13, 1,2) we would really appreciate it!
Fun in PE!
Our Davis students had a blast this past week as they made their way through different obstacle course exercises. Students worked on their balance, strength, and agility on the “railroad” balancing equipment, the climbing wall, and other fun activities.
