RCE Comet Parent Update
September 2024 Edition
Overview
Parents,
Read below to learn all about the programs that we use at Robert Crippen Elementary. If this is your first time using any of the following programs in New Caney ISD, you may need to create an account or obtain your child's log in credentials before gaining access.
Please be sure to reach out to our campus media specialist, Lisa Christian, if you have any questions!
Classlink
Classlink is New Caney ISD's Single Sign On system (SSO). Students use Classlink to access any campus and district programs and websites, such as Canvas, Beanstack, Math, Reading, and Science programs . While parents do not use Classlink, it might be helpful to learn how to login if students ever need to access a school program without their district-issued Chromebook. Your child's teacher or media specialist can help you with the login credentials.
Skyward
Skyward is New Caney ISD's Student Information System (SIS) and official gradebook. Parents and students can use Skyward in order to view:
- Students' official grades
- Progress Reports and Report Cards
- Set-Up Notifications
- Absences
- Emergency Contact Information

Canvas
Canvas & Connecting With Your Child's Account
Canvas is New Caney ISD's Learning Management System. Teachers use Canvas for instructional purposes, including classwork and homework. Parents can create an account and observe their student's activity and assignment feedback. Students can access Canvas by logging into Classlink.
View the images below for how to get connected with your student on Canvas.

Remind
Remind is our campus-to-parent communication application. Parents can download the application or access the website to view messages in Remind. The Skyward Guardian 1 will automatically be connected with the student, once an account is created with the same email used in Skyward. You can receive notifications from your student's classroom teachers, RCE, and NCISD in three ways:
- on the app
- via email
- via text message
If you are Guardian 2 in Skyward, you can create an account on Remind and join your student in one of the following ways:
- receive a join code from your child's teacher
- ask a teacher to add you to your student's account, manually
Please view the information below to learn more!

Paper
Do you have a 5th grader in need of help with homework, assignments, or essay feedback? Paper, the free online tutoring site for all NCISD students grades 5-12, is a wonderful resource that can provide students with 24/7 tutoring assistance for any subject. Students can access Paper through Classlink or Canvas.
Beanstack
What is Beanstack?
Beanstack makes it easy to track everything your child reads, whether it’s a book, e-book, audiobook, or even the back of a cereal box! Parents, do you read to your child at night? Those minutes can be logged too. See everything your child has read and keep their daily reading streak alive. Get your child motivated to meet reading goals with new reading challenges and virtual badges.
Beanstack can be found in Classlink or by downloading the Beanstack App. See instructions below to utilize the app. If you need further assistance, please reach out to our media specialist, Lisa Christian.
Astronauts
All Crippen Astronauts will display stellar citizenship and perform at or above grade level in every subject.
