In its third year, the Education Recovery Scorecard (a collaboration between the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University, The Educational Opportunity Project at Stanford University, and faculty at Dartmouth College) provides a high resolution picture of academic recovery in 8,719 school districts with either math or reading achievement data across 43 states. Building on the recent NAEP release, the Education Recovery Scorecard combines the NAEP results with state test results for roughly 35 million grade 3-8 students between 2019 and 2024, portraying district-level changes in achievement for individual communities across the country.
The SIP funds will be used for a myriad of initiatives to support inclusion in the CVUSD, including engaging activities for students, such as Unified Sports, and impactful professional learning and training for staff. This professional development for staff will include TK/Kindergarten teacher training for inclusion, Co-Teaching training for teachers and administrators, paraeducator training, and model teaching from elementary special educators.
The vision of SIP is, “for every student to be educated in an environment that is intentionally designed, equitable, and inclusive.” As a grantee, SIP will also provide assistance to the CVUSD through its three-tier system of support and resources.
CVUSD is proud to be a SIP grantee, and part of the coalition of districts and educators who are committed to working together to promote inclusion in the best interest of all students! Click here to read more.

Save the Date: School & Community Resource Fair for Families of Students w/ IEPs
The CVUSD Special Education Department invites families of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to join them at the CVUSD hosted Resources Fair this Wednesday, February 19th from 9am to 10:30am in the University Center MPR (2801 Atlas Avenue, Thousand Oaks). CVUSD staff including CVUSD school psychologists, and BCBAs, as well as representatives from community agencies/resources such as Goodwill Industries, Rainbow Connection and Tri-Counties Regional Center and more, will provide tables of information. This will also be a great opportunity to learn more about community resources and have any questions that you may have answered.
CVUSD Parents/Guardians, please join our BreakThrough Student Assistance Program and the Conejo Schools Foundation for a workshop on Online Safety presented by members of the Ventura County District Attorney, FBI and local law enforcement. This free, in-person event will take place TODAY, Tuesday, February 18th from 6pm to 7:30pm at University Center (2801 Atlas Avenue, Thousand Oaks).
This workshop will review online safety with tips and best practices for how to protect your children. Online safety is crucial in today's digital world, where kids and teens face risks like cyberbullying, scams, and harmful content. A serious issue is sextortion, where someone uses threats to get explicit material or money. Parents can help by keeping communication open, teaching safe online habits, and using privacy settings and parental controls. Together, families can create a safer internet experience for their children.
Celebrate Black History Month with CVUSD: Free Music & Dance Performance Event
As the county’s first place team, Westlake will now advance to the state Academic Decathlon. The theme for this year’s Academic Decathlon is “Our Changing Climate.”

Alyssa Peters recognizes the diverse needs of students, and meets those needs by employing a wide variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technologies to engage students in meaningful learning experiences. A teacher in the CVUSD for a decade, Ms. Peters is currently the Lead Primary Teacher at Weathersfield Elementary School where she teaches kindergarten. At Weathersfield, she provides individualized support to each student to ensure that every child reaches their full potential, and we and the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce are proud to honor her as the CVUSD February 2025 Teacher of the Month!
Not only does Ms. Peters deliver educational excellence in her classroom for all students, but she also imparts the importance of kindness. At the Tuesday, February 11th Weathersfield Elementary School staff meeting, Ms. Peters was surprised with the February 2025 Teacher of the Month recognition. She was presented with a commemorative plaque from the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce to honor her special recognition, along with a $300 teacher grant from the Conejo Schools Foundation, and congratulatory wishes from CVUSD’s leadership team and members of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee.
