Team Penn
March 20 - 24
Welcome Back
Welcome Back Team Penn! I hope that your break was restful and enjoyable! If you would like to share pictures from your Spring Break adventures, please email them to me by Friday at 8:00a.m. We would love to share in your fun!
Removing Lockers
Work continued full speed ahead removing lockers for the beautification project.
Bye-bye old lockers!
The workers removed all lockers in the main hallway.
And away they go.
Out with the old!
As you can see below, the lockers only in the main hallway connecting the lower and upper hallway have been removed. The main hallway will feel quite spacious as you transition your students! If you look carefully at the bottom where the lockers were, you will notice that there is still a cement base. This base will be removed during the summer and replaced with new tile. That project was too lengthy to complete during Spring break. Our students will be tempted to run along the base of the hallway. The corners will need to be watched carefully, as not to fall. Please encourage safety before leaving the classroom for transitions. It looks quite grungy on the walls. Painting will take place soon and Penn will be a building that students will take pride in learning in and parents will be proud to send their children after the beautification project in April. Everyone is invited to join in the planning for the CityYear Beautification Project, Wednesday, March 22 from 3:00-4:00p.m. in the main lobby. This is the last planning meeting.

Reminders
- Grades should be entered into the Gradebook by 3/29 at 8a.m. Make sure all fields for comments, lifeskills, subjects, numbers are completed and correct. Ask your instructional team leader for assistance.
- Report cards are issued 3/31.
- Next week there will be a Tornado Drill. Your students will need to know the closest route, position for sitting on the floor and where your class sits on the lower grade hallway. Because all grade levels are on the same hallway, emphasize voice level 0 during the entire drill. We have 2 minutes to get everyone on the hallway and settled, as in real life, tornadoes hit quickly.
- The "Ned Show" will be at Penn next Tuesday at 8:00a.m. This will be our Rise & Shine for the week. Please take your students to eat breakfast in the classroom and be back in the gym and seated by 8:00a.m. You will want to plan your Toolbox Tuesday lesson for a different day.
