Expiration Dates on Google Docs
WHPS Tech Tip
You can now set expiration dates on sharing access to documents and folders! This feature is only for collaborators with View or Comment access. Expiration dates cannot be set for owners or those with Edit privileges.
Consider this feature if you want to grant access to a folder of resources and set that access to expire on the last day of the term. Teachers still using a shared folder as a “dropbox” now have a solution to quickly clear it out when the class is over.
How to Access
When you are in the Advanced portion of the Sharing window, the icon of a clock will appear as you arrow over a collaborator. Clicking that icon will open a menu where you can select an expiration date of one week, one month, or a custom date. Selecting Custom Date will open a calendar where you can choose the desired date. This feature is found when sharing any document or folder.
If you would like to cancel the expiration you have set for a collaborator, simply click the Cancel Expiration link found to the right of the expiration selection pull-down menu.

IMPORTANT: This feature will roll out gradually over the course of two to three months, so check back soon if it's not available to you yet.
