Veteran's Day Program

Second grade did an amazing job honoring our Veterans and Brooklyn students with songs. Mr Perry, Brooklyn and Centerton's music teacher, directed the production. The U.S. Marines participated in the flag folding presentation.

Brooklyn on the Radio

Tune in Tuesday, December 12th at 10am to hear Brooklyn's third grade students singing Christmas Carols on local radio station WCBK 102.3 FM.

Winter Program

Embrace the winter season with Brooklyn STEM Academy on Thursday, December 7th starting at 6PM. All are welcome to attend our Winter Music Program featuring grades K and 3rd. Please enter through door 2.

2-Hour Delay Reminder

Breakfast is not served on 2-hour delay days. Doors open at 10:25am. School starts at 10:40am. YMCA before school care opens at normal time.


Also, please note that should we release early from school, the YMCA after-school program is not an available option as they also close.

Pre-K

Pre-K started their Thankful unit by building shape turkeys for math and making pumpkin pie in a bag!

KG

Kindergarten has been exploring pushes and pulls. They used magnets to explore magnetic pushes and pulls.

First

First grade has been working on Project Lead The Way module Light & Sound. They investigated sound and are now working on light.

Second

Second grade finished their Owl Unit with a trip to Eagle Creek Park learning more about nature, dissecting owl pellets, and seeing an actual Barn Owl and Great Horned Owl!

Third

Third grade continued studying about inherited and environmental traits. Soon they will be constructing a flower with the traits they have inherited.

Fourth

Fourth grade is learning how to code, program, and create computer games.

Exceptional Experiences

Many students and classrooms won experiences from last month's Grandparent's night raffle. Hannah (Mrs. Gardner's class) won the principal's chair, she had the best seat in the school and topped off the prize both "Teares" had a lunch "meeting".


Other experience winners:

- movie and snack class party: Marley (Harriman)

- ride to school with a police officer: Lucas (Brummett) with Officer Hammans from Martinsville PD.

School Wide Title 1

Funding has been made available through School Wide Title 1 Services to Brooklyn Elementary for the purpose of providing students with extra support in reading/language arts and math. This extra support is available for all students at Brooklyn Elementary. Classroom teachers, Title 1 Teachers and instructional aides provide assistance through small group and individualized instruction as children demonstrate a need for support. Please contact your teacher about services your child may receive.
