Huskies Have HEART Newsletter
September 29, 2024
Greetings Central Heights Students and Families,
Monday, September 30th is a B-day! All students have been issued their school-owned chromebooks now! Please remind your student to bring their Chromebook home each night after school AND charge it. Students are struggling to keep their Chromebooks charged, which creates a lot of distractions in learning. As a reminder, here is the Digital Device Agreement that students signed at the beginning of the year: Student Digital Device Agreement
We will be having our Active Threat Drill on the morning of Thursday, October 3rd. During SP30 class that day we will cover our expectations for the drill. The drill starts with an announcement stating we are having a drill and presents a scenario to students to respond to. Teachers and students practice their response by either evacuating or barricading. Police and a school employee then walk the building and give pointers to students and staff. Please remind your student to take the drill seriously.
Please mark your calendars for our Fall Family Fun Night:
6th Grade Families

Familias de sexto grado

Middle School Math Changes Reminder to Families - Last spring, we communicated changes to our math course sequencing in grades 6, 7, and 8, which began to take effect this school year. Those changes involved shifting away from a compacted math sequence where students learn four years of mathematics in three years of middle school to a non-compacted course sequence focused on grade-level math content instruction. Please click here for more detailed information about this change (English). | Haga clic aquí para más información acerca de este cambio (Español).
8th grade families - your student will have a field trip on 11/20 for Future Quest! This is a high energy day where your student can explore various career pathways.
For all middle school sports (held at Central Heights, Prairie View, or Patrick Marsh), students must first go home and then return with a parent/caregiver to watch the sporting event. Students will not be allowed to enter the game without one of their own parents/caregivers and will be asked to leave the building.
Curious about what is happening in your student’s elective classes? Check out our September Elective Newsletter.
Each week, we update our announcements with student club information (dates/times/room numbers). In order to join a club, students just need to attend it. If they enjoy their time in the club the first night, we’ll get them ‘rostered’ to the club and it will show up on their schedule for after school activities (similar to how sports do). Here’s the latest information about our Central Heights clubs:
Referendum:
