Celebrating School Board Recognition Month
January is School Board Recognition Month! A heartfelt thank you to the MCSD Board of Education for your unwavering leadership and commitment to our schools.
Shining Bright: Students Honor MLK's Legacy
We are incredibly proud of the talented MCSD students who took part in the MLK Parade and Celebration at The Door of Hope Christian Church. Their remarkable performances and exemplary representation of our school district were truly inspiring. Events like these allow us to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s lasting legacy, reminding us of the power of unity, service, and the pursuit of equality for all.
Cheers to 100 Days of Learning!
Many of our primary and elementary schools had lots of fun celebrating the 100th day of school!
Honoring Black History: A Month of Reflection, Learning, and Celebration
This month our schools have launched a series of impactful programs to celebrate Black History Month. Schools across the district have hosted events such as a Black History Museum, along with inspiring programs featuring guest speakers and musical performances. These celebrations highlight the rich history, culture, and contributions of African Americans, fostering learning and appreciation throughout our community.
Honoring Our School Counselors
From February 5th to 9th, MCSD proudly celebrated National School Counselor Appreciation Week! We are deeply grateful for the dedication and support our school counselors provide, shaping students’ academic success and personal growth every day.
Love the Bus Week
During "Love the Bus" Week, we proudly honor our incredible bus drivers who safely transport our students every day! Their dedication and commitment ensure that our students arrive at school and return home safely. A huge THANK YOU to all our bus drivers and transportation staff for your hard work and care—you make a difference every single day!
Ministers as Mentors: Connecting Community Leaders with Student Success
Dr. Bethea hosted a “Ministers as Mentors” event at the Success Academy, welcoming local clergy to explore the program's impact. Ms. Rita Lewis-Smith, principal of the Success Academy, provided an overview of the opportunities available to students. Guests also toured the school and engaged directly with students in their classrooms, fostering meaningful connections and mentorship.
Hiring Fair Success
A huge thank you to everyone who attended the district's Hiring Fair! We loved meeting so many new faces, and we’re excited to announce that contracts were signed on the spot! We look forward to welcoming our newest team members and shaping a bright future together!
Building Bridges: A Monday with the Mayors
Dr. Bethea recently hosted "A Monday with the Mayors" at the Academy for Careers and Technology. The event kicked off with a delicious breakfast prepared by our talented culinary arts students. Following the meal, ACT Director Michael Stone led the mayors on a tour of The Hub, highlighting the incredible programs and opportunities available to our students. It was a morning of meaningful conversations, collaboration, and a firsthand look at the bright futures being shaped in our district!
A Warm Welcome to State Superintendent Ellen Weaver!
We were honored to host State Superintendent Ellen Weaver as she explored the Academy for Careers and Technology, discovering its incredible programs. She also visited Montessori classrooms at North Mullins Primary School, gaining insight into our innovative learning environments. It was a fantastic day of learning and inspiration!
Empowering Futures: Celebrating Career & Technical Education Month
February marks Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, a time to recognize the impact of CTE programs nationwide. At MCSD, we are committed to helping every student turn their four years of high school into a launching pad for future success. Our Academy for Careers and Technology (ACT) campus currently offers 18 career pathways, with even more in development—expanding opportunities and preparing students for bright futures in a variety of industries.
