CWE Founding Member Spotlight-Bridget Godfrey
I have been teaching for 29 years. I graduated from West Georgia College in 1995. I started my teaching career at Alpharetta Elementary teaching fifth grade. I was surplused to Manning Oaks Elementary in 1998 when that opened. I taught 3rd and 5th grade. Six years later, CWES opened. I was very excited to work with John Anderson. I was offered a second grade position. I was thrilled to be opening another new school. Most importantly, I was able to enroll our daughter, Caroline the following year in 2005.
It was such a honor to watch her grow academically here at CWES. She attended Hopewell Middle School and graduated Cambridge High school in 2018.
I stayed at Cogburn all these years because of the friendships formed and the connections I have made with the families and the community. It is amazing to have students come back their senior year and remember you and the impact you made on their lives.
One of my favorite memories at CWES is when our principal had live reindeer come around the school the day before winter break. There was a snow machine as well. The students were so excited. It was fun to see the Christmas spirit come alive at school.
A quote that has kept me in education all these years is from Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people forget what you did; but they will never forget the way you made them feel."
I hope to be the teacher that always made them feel special.
Best,
Bridget Godfrey
