Sherwood Middle School
January 22, 2023 Update
Dear Sherwood Community,
Thank you for taking time this past week to review our Grade Level Meeting presentation with your child and remind them about the need to live out our core values and focus on their learning each day. We have seen a significant improvement this week in student behaviors and academic effort, so thank you! We know that we are a stronger and more positive community when we all work together to achieve a common goal.
Speaking of common goals, all students and staff took time during Morning Meeting this week, to take this pledge and focus on what steps each of us can take to ensure that all members of our community feel a sense of belonging.
We ask that you too take time to reinforce this message with your child at home. For as Martin Luther King Jr. once said, "the time is always right to do what is right." We appreciate your continued support of your child and our school community.
With Gratitude!
Jon, Heather, and Karen

Photos of the Week
Trax from the Worcester Railers stopped by this week to offer some fist pumps and smiles to our 5th graders for "leading by example" and working hard to follow our core values each day. Here he is pictured with 5th grader Mouctar. 6th graders Ellie and Livvie took it upon themselves this week to add a quote each morning to our new Core Value of the Month Message Board. Students look forward to see what new quote they will choose each day :) Thanks to Ms. Bolt for coming up with this idea! On Friday, students and staff took turns dressing up like each other to show their admiration and respect on Freaky Friday. Here Ethan on 6 Teal does his best to pull off his Ms. Cozza look. Way to go Ethan, you nailed it!

Grade 6 Winter Concert: Monday Night at Oak
The concert starts at 6:00PM this Monday night in the Oak Middle School Auditorium.
Students should plan to arrive at 5:30PM for concert warm-ups. The concert will consist of (2) performing groups- 6th grade orchestra and 6th grade chorus. We anticipate the concert being over around 6:45PM at the latest.
Students have working hard this year on their concert repertoire and they are prepared for what should be an excellent concert. We look forward to seeing you there!

Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is almost here!!
We are very glad to announce that we will be hosting a Book Fair from Monday, February 6 through Wednesday, February 15.
Every year, our students get incredibly excited about our Book Fair and enjoy the time they spend browsing and buying books! The Book Fair is a fun and energetic event that promotes reading at our school, and all of the purchases from the Book Fair raise money for our school's Media Center, so that we are able to add more books to our collection for everyone.
More information can be found on our Book Fair webpage. On that same page, you can also add money to your child's e-wallet, so that they can shop on their Book Fair day without needing to remember to bring money with them. (If you had funds left over in an e-Wallet from a previous fair, you should be able to add that money to your e-Wallet for this fair by logging in to your Scholastic account.)
We will definitely need volunteers! If you would like to volunteer at the Book Fair, please email our Media Specialist at hclegg@shrewsbury.k12.ma.us with the day and time you are available for volunteering!
You can find the date for your child's class visit here: (To check the specific timing of your child's Book Fair visit, you can look at this spreadsheet.) so if you would like to volunteer,
Please add it to your calendar so that you can remember to send Book Fair money if you want to allow your child to buy books!
