AELC Monthly Message
October 2024
DEAR AELC FAMILIES,
Happy Fall! We've had a wonderful first full month of school! It is great to see students settling into their classes and making new friends! We are enjoying getting to know your children and watching them blossom already! Students are earning Eagle Bucks to shop at the SOAR Cart and we are continuing to focus on our monthly PBIS words (October is RESPECT)! Our staff loves to recognize our students and spread positivity! Don't forget to follow us on X (formerly Twitter) where we share updated information and lots of fun pics @AVONELC. Thank you for your continued support and partnership!

MAP REPORTS...
Kindergarten families will receive your student's MAP report via PowerSchool email towards the end of the week. Please keep in mind that MAP scores are one piece of the puzzle. We encourage our teachers to use classroom data to drive instruction. MAP reports give insight, however, we mostly use these reports to assess growth from fall to winter and winter to spring. We rely on our daily observations and assessments for instructional strategies and pacing.
Your child may receive a RIMP (reading improvement and monitoring plan) if he/she did not receive a reading RIT score that is deemed "on track" by the Ohio Department of Education. Kindergartners must score a 130 to be considered "on track" by ODE. If your child receives a RIMP, your child's teacher will contact you to discuss the letter and what he/she will be doing to provide extra reading support in the classroom. This will most likely happen during your parent/teacher conferences.
If you have questions, please contact your child's teacher.
FALL BOOK FAIR...
Our Boosters have worked hard to bring a Scholastic Book Fair to AELC! Book Fair flyers will be sent home as a preview. Please look at the flyer and fill out a wishlist with your child. If you'd like your child to purchase books, you have a few options...
- Students will have the option of visiting the Book Fair during the school day the week of 10/7. Please load money to your child's eWallet (link below) prior to those days if you want your child to shop.
- The Book Fair will be open on conference evenings, Monday 10/7 and Wednesday 10/9.
- The online store is now open! Please CLICK HERE to shop!
***Boosters are still looking for volunteers to help! Please CLICK HERE if you can help during conferences and CLICK HERE if you can help during student shopping days.
