Concord High School
August 2024 - UPDATE
Principal's Message
It is my pleasure to officially welcome you to the 2024-2025 school year. Welcome back to our returning students and families, and welcome to everyone new to Concord! We are excited to start this school year with a laser-like focus on high academic expectations, a positive and orderly climate and culture, and inclusive extra-curricular activities. Our Theme this year is ALWAYS ON BRAND. This theme aligns with the The Concord Way: Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
Below you will see a list of important dates for the fall. Please mark your calendars accordingly!
All incoming 9th graders, new upperclassman, and their families are invited to a walkthrough on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 3:30- 6:00. This is a chance for your to tour the building, receive a new Chromebook (if you do not have one from 8th grade), and meet the administrative team.
Concord has earned recognition from U.S. News and World Reports as one of the best high schools in the state. These rankings are based on College Readiness, AP Exams, Math and Reading Proficiency, and Graduation Rates. We are thrilled to offer twenty-two Advanced Placement (AP) courses, college dual-enrollment courses, as well as, the esteemed Advanced Placement Capstone Diploma. Our World Language department took students abroad to Italy and Costa Rica. Our Design & Engineering Department won a Superstars in Education from the Delaware Department of Education. Our Marketing, Educators Rising, and Science Olympiad students led at their state and/or national level competitions. Our student-led clubs sponsored many philanthropic activities, including food drives, coat drives, recycling, and awareness and acceptance events, just to name a few. Our Student Council raised almost 8,500 dollars for the B+ Foundation: Kids Helping Kids Fight Childhood Cancer.
We aim to build upon the positive momentum from last year. To that point, students can expect a continuation of the eHall Pass system along with strict enforcement of the cell-phone policy and hallway transitions. Controlled and orderly halls, coupled with classroom environments that are free from distractions, are the first steps towards a positive and supportive climate and culture. As students transition from less structured summer days, I feel compelled to share these expectations in order to let the proper mindsets permeate in the days that remain. Student schedules will be distributed on the first day of school.
Again, I encourage you to get involved and stay involved! One of the best parts of attending a storied comprehensive high school such as Concord are the opportunities that are present. Whether your journey is inching closer to the finish line, or you are just getting started, I encourage everyone to embrace all that we have to offer and get involved. Please visit our website, www.brandywineschools.org/concord, for more information about extra-curricular activities.
Raiders - the standard has been set! I say we forget about meeting expectations and we focus on blowing them out of the water! We will do the little things well, so big things can happen!

CHS Athletics
Check out what's happening with athletics!
We are bursting at the seams with student athletes. Due to the high volume of athletes, we will have three Boys' Soccer teams, three Girls' Volleyball teams, three Field Hockey teams (Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Developmental). Our Football Teams (Varsity and Junior Varsity) are getting ready for the Fall season! Concord Rowing has been in the water preparing for their first regatta. Cheerleading has been practicing and will have additional try-outs once school begins. Boys and Girls Cross Country are still accepting athletes who have a DIAA physical (you can still get one). Who wants to run?
CLICK the Bar BELOW for more information!
All of the Fall sports teams' schedules are posted on the Raiders Sports website.
Mark your calendars NOW! We want to see you at our athletic events.
Our Cross Country runners were too fast to capture some photos. We will post some on our social media platforms. 😀
A Look Back at CHS Athletics 2023/2024 ... We Dominated!
In 2023-2024, our athletic teams dominated the Flight B Conference Championships: Boys Cross Country, Field Hockey, Girls Volleyball, Girls Swimming, Baseball, Golf, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Soccer and Softball. We had over thirty students win All-State athletic awards, 132 All-Conference athletic awards and 264 Academic All-Conference awards (3.2 or higher GPA) 200 Academic All-State (3.5 GPA or higher)- 100 of whom had a 4.0 GPA. Three athletes named Flight B Player of the Year. Three coaches were named Flight B Coaches of the Year (Tim Hamberger, Mark Cruser, and Frank Carter).
To say we dominated Flight B is an understatement! Raider Nation is in full force. Let's see what 2024-2025 brings!
Golden Raiders Marching Band
The Golden Raiders Marching Band (GRMB) is back at it again! They have been spending hours and hours perfecting their program for this year! Band Camp is NO JOKE- It's intense! We cannot wait to see their first home performance at our first home football game on September 14, 2024 @10:30 am against rival Brandywine High School. You can follow the GRMB on Facebook and Instagram: @concordmusicboosters.
Drama Department
Disney's Beauty and The Beast
Last year we performed two amazing musicals, Seussical Jr. and Anastasia. We are excited to announce that we will be performing Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in December 2024. Do you have an elementary or middle school student who attends a BSD school who is interested in theater?
For up-to-date information please follow the Concord Players on Facebook and Instagram: @concordplayers
National Award Winning Art Student
We are so excited to announce that for the first time ever, a Concord Raider, Skylar Ehrlich, has won two National Gold Medals and an American Visions award from Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation’s longest running and most prestigious awards for creative teens.
Skylar spent the summer at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) continuing her creative journey. We are so proud of Skylar! We cannot wait to she what she creates during her senior year.
