Principal's Message
Dear Duniway School Community,
I'm still coming down from all of the fun and excitement at the auction last week. On behalf of our Duniway community, I want to thank our auction committee for their tireless work – and to our generous attendees, donors, and volunteers – thank you for making last Friday's event a huge success. Although the final numbers are still coming in, I do know that the funds raised at the auction and through our annual campaign will make a massive difference for our students, teachers, and PPS.
For those who weren't in attendance, we also launched a special fund that I want to share with you: Our Duniway Foundation established The Duniway Family Support Fund, which will be used to support Duniway families in need. We seeded this fund with $1,000 from our paddle raise at the event, and we should all be incredibly proud to see our community come together to support those who are going through difficult times. We will share more information on this fund soon.
If you won an auction item—either at the live event or online—the procurement committee will contact you soon (if they haven't already) to ensure we get those items and certificates to you.
The excitement continues! You still have the opportunity to purchase tickets to some amazing hosted parties (I'm particularly excited about the Duniway Movie Night on the Lawn and the Halloween Movie night in our auditorium!) You can also bring home a piece of our incredible classroom art or show your Duniway pride with our merchandise. Don't miss out on these fantastic items, visit the auction website today.
Duniway Family Circle: If you have a grandparent or a friend who would like to support our Duniway students, consider sharing this donation page with them. (We are nearly at our goal!) Tax-deductible donations in any amount are encouraged, and when someone contributes $150 or more, they'll receive a limited-edition print of your student's classroom art! Thanks again for a tremendous event!
Today, we had an extraordinary assembly where we read poems for poetry month; 5th graders performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," and Kindergarten performed a song. This coming week, we have three evening events happening. On Wednesday, we have a doubleheader, with a PTA meeting at 7:00 pm in the library as well as our Eastmoreland Neighborhood Association Emergency Preparedness Night from 6:00–8:00 pm in the auditorium. On Thursday, the Royal Rosaian Foundation will hold a Milk Boat Race Family Info Night from 6:00–8:00 pm in the cafeteria to share how families can participate in this exciting event.
On Thursday, May 30,⋅6:00 – 7:30 p.m., we will open our doors for a Spring Showcase. The evening is an opportunity for students and families to walk the halls, visit classrooms, and share all of the exciting things they have been up to this spring in classrooms. We look forward to seeing you there!
Have a wonderful weekend despite the rain, and I am looking forward to all of the fun events on the horizon in May and June.
Best.

Duniway Fund Run May 17th
The Fund Run is one of our PTA’s largest annual fundraisers! During the school day, students run, walk, or stroll around the field as many times as they can for a designated time period. 1st-5th grade students participate for 30 minutes and travel around the entire field (about a 0.25 mile loop) while Kindergarten and Pre-K students participate for 20 minutes and cover about half that distance. Most students complete between 6-11 laps, with some students in older grades completing up to 18 laps. Kindergarten students often complete more laps because it’s a shorter loop!
We encourage all students to participate in fundraising if they can. Donations can be made as flat fee donations or as per lap pledges. To donate:
Go to our Rally Up website: https://duniwayelementary.rallyup.com/2024fundrun
Click on "Contribute"
Click on "Make a per-lap pledge" or "Make a flat fee donation"
Search for your student by first or last name or by class. You may add additional students or donations before you check out. If you choose “per lap pledges” your amount will be “to be determined” until after the event.
Note: You will be asked to leave an optional tip at checkout. These tips go directly to RallyUp to cover operating costs, but they do not affect our fundraising. Note that all payments are still subject to processing fees, which are charged by credit cards or other services like PayPal. You can also write a check to the “Duniway PTA” and deliver or mail it to the office.
The class in each grade who completes the most laps (averaged according to the number of students participating in each class) will earn an ice cream party after the event. In addition, all students will be entered into weekly drawings for prizes and will receive a popsicle after the event.
We are looking forward to this fun event that supports our goal of offering our children a rich and diverse public school education.

Hello Cleveland High School and CHS feeder school families!
Join the Cleveland Design Advisory Group.
The Cleveland project team will soon start the design phase of the modernization work. You can help shape that process by joining the Cleveland Design Advisory Group (DAG). This group will meet about every 6 weeks to provide input and feedback to the project team on the design options and ideas for a new CHS. Although DAG members perform in an advisory role only, this community input is vital to the success and collaboration of the project. Decisions on project details are the responsibility of the Office of School Modernization in collaboration with other District leadership.
To apply, visit the Cleveland Modernization website. Applications are available in multiple languages and the deadline for applications has been extended to Friday, May 3rd. at 5:00p.m.
The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 9th in the CHS library.
Thank you for supporting the Cleveland High School modernization project.

Are you “Red Cross Ready?”
On Wednesday, May 8th, Eastmoreland’s Emergency Preparedness Committee is hosting an evening emergency preparedness event from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the Duniway School auditorium.

Presentations will cover safety in the home as well as neighborhood emergencies, including a major earthquake and weather-related events.
