MUMS Family Newsletter
May 24, 2024
Dear caregivers and families,
It's been a busy week here at MUMS this week! We had a wonderful concert on Tuesday night organized by our choral and band directors Connor Young and Richard Sherman. Thanks for coming out on such a warm night to see our students perform and thank you to our players and singers and directors for putting on such a great show!
Last night we welcomed our rising sixth grade families to MUMS with our fifth grade transition night! It was so nice to meet new folks and say hi to those who are remaining with us, or rejoining us next year! We are looking forward to seeing our rising ninth graders through their transition to MUHS and also very excited to welcome rising sixth grade students here at MUMS on June 5th!
Lastly, thank you endlessly to the folks who made our eighth grade trip to Boston such a success. Our students, got to experience the Science Museum, a move in the Omni theatre, visit Bunker Hill and the USS constitution, ride on a water taxi and enjoy shopping and good food at Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall! We had a great time and feel grateful to our community for helping make it happen.
With just three weeks left of school, we are working diligently to get through our curriculum, continue to form relationships and celebrate this past year! Thanks for hanging in with us as we continue to prioritize our learning community as we end approach the end of our school year.
Have a great weekend!
Best,
Michaela

Eighth graders only - are being offered to a attend an 8th grade class dinner before the dance from 6:00-7:00. Permission slips were handed out in TA this morning, you can also print a copy here. Students need to bring their signed permission slip and money when they arrive to the dance.

From our MYP Coordinators
In Digital Design, all MUMS students created and printed a digital sticker that communicated something about their identity. This first unit’s Statement of Inquiry is “Being purposeful about form and function communicates aspects of a person’s identity,” and the Name Sticker Project was a perfect way to explore this big idea! Ask a Grade 7 student what “subtractive fabrication” means and the difference between a svg and a png file. They’ll tell you
Pam Quinn and Eileen Sears, MYP Coordinators
Step Up Day, June 5th
On Wednesday, June 5th MUMS will welcome incoming 6th graders from 9-11 a.m. and 8th graders will visit MUHS at the same time. Students will tour the building, engage in team building, and meet with students and staff.
