Thank You for a Wonderful Sundowner!
A huge thank you to everyone who helped make last Fridayβs Sundowner such a special event! It was fantastic to come together as a community, meet the teachers, see the classrooms, and connect with friends.
βοΈ Preparing for Easter
Next week, we begin our reflection on the Easter story through these key events:
π₯ Shrove (Pancake) Tuesday β 4 March
A tradition where people eat pancakes to use up rich ingredients before Lent beginsβa time of reflection and simplicity.
ποΈ Ash Wednesday β 5 March
The first day of Lent. Students will receive ashes as a reminder to turn their hearts toward God.
π Parents are warmly invited to join us for the
Ash Wednesday Liturgy at 9:00am in the school undercover area.
β³ Lent β A Time of Reflection
Lent is a 40-day season of:
π Fasting β Turning away from bad habits.
π Almsgiving β Helping and giving to others.
π Prayer β Thanking God and asking for guidance.

πͺ School Gate Opening Times
To help keep our school safe and organised, please note the following gate opening times:
Morning:
πΉ Gates open at 8:15am and close at 8:40am.
πΉ If you arrive before or after these times, please use the pedestrian gate on Hudson Avenue.
Afternoon:
πΉ External school gates open at 2:30pm for access to the grounds.
πΉ Early Childhood (Kindy & Pre-Primary) gates open at 2:50pm.
β Please do not enter the Early Childhood area before 2:50pm.
Thank you for your cooperation!
π± Mobile Phones at School
Students who bring mobile phones to school must:

Drop them off at the front office before school.
β
Collect them from the office after school.
π« Any student caught with a mobile phone during the day will have it confiscated.
π’ Parents will need to collect confiscated phones from the office.
We appreciate your support in ensuring a focused and distraction-free learning environment!
π Important Reminders
π Public Holiday β Monday, 3 March
The school will be closed on Monday, 3 March, for a public holiday. We look forward to seeing students back on Tuesday, 4 March!
π ICT Agreements for Years 3β6
In Week 5, students in Years 3β6 will bring home an ICT Agreement Letter for parents to sign. This outlines the rules for using iPads and technology at school.

Please check your childβs bag, sign the letter, and return it as soon as possible.
π¦ Behaviour Expectations
At Our Lady of Mercy, we have a zero-tolerance policy for threatening behaviour and violence.
π« No playfighting, tackling, or wrestling β These can lead to real violence.
π« No threatening words or actions β Anything that makes another person feel unsafe is unacceptable.
π’ If a child is involved in these behaviours, parents will be asked to attend a meeting to discuss how to prevent it from happening again.

We are enrolling for Kindy 2026. If you have family or friends with children entering Kindy next year, invite them to book a visit - Mr Sirolli would love to show them around the school. Children very welcome too! Just speak with Mrs Caruso in the office.

Kids Academy have a new online Enrolment form.
