Lindley Rebuild Update
The question that we receive the most is when we will find out where we will move for the next two years. The district has not made a final decision. It depends on when the first round of new schools are completed. For example, the new Kiser Middle School has been delayed until sometime in Spring 2025.
The Lindley Design Team is meeting regularly to conceptualize the new Lindley Facility based on feedback from families, staff and the community. Here are some highlights (subject to change as we receive feedback throughout the process):
1. The new building will have a 700 student capacity with three levels using the same grading of the land currently in place (ex: Camden Road entrance will be on second floor)
2. There will be 2 grade levels per floor with the youngest students on the bottom floor.
3. Bus riders along with Pre-K and Adaptive Special Education students will enter the building on the 1st floor by the cafeteria and multipurpose room.
4. There will be a service road that will begin on Northridge St. and travel around the back of the building to the front of the building facing Camden. This service road will be used for car riders at the beginning and end of the day for pick up and drop off so car traffic will have limited impact on the neighborhood streets. There will be gates that will control access to the road at other times.
5. The front of the building facing Camden Road will incorporate architectural features of the 1928 building so that it will continue to fit into the surrounding neighborhood. Bricks from the old building will be incorporated into the new building in various areas.
6. There is an emphasis on preserving as much of the natural beauty of the campus (such as the track, garden, natural amphitheater and walking trails)
More public meetings will be scheduled after Winter Break. We will notify everyone when we have dates!
