Safety Message for Parents
Jefferson Elementary School
HOLD PROTOCOL TODAY at SCHOOL
Hello Parents -
A substitute staff member experienced a medical emergency today at Jefferson. In order to provide the most efficient medical response, I called a Hold for the classrooms. A Hold Protocol is used when it is appropriate to have the halls clear for any reason. I wanted to ensure that the hallways were unobstructed for the EMT response during the emergency.
During a Hold, teachers close and lock their doors, keep students out of the hallways, and conduct business as usual – continuing with instruction.
When the situation had resolved itself and the staff member was safely on their way to the appropriate medical care, I lifted the Hold and students continued on with their day. I also made an announcement to the entire school to assure everyone that all was well.
Your child may have questions when they get home tonight. Please feel free to assure them that the adult who was injured was given immediate medical treatment and will recover from her injury.
Thank you.
Melissa Harder
