From Mrs. Barry
Enjoy this wonderful time of the year! I am incredibly grateful to be a part of this amazing community, and I want to express my thanks to you for sharing your children with me. I appreciate your support and encouragement. There's no better place than Meadow Wood! #60 years
Morning Drop Off Reminder
Please remember that students transported to school by car are to be dropped off on Memorial Drive through the parent drive ONLY. To keep the students safe, students should not be dropped off on the streets surrounding the school, including Memorial Drive, Memorial Green, and Fern. Students MAY NOT be dropped off in the parking lots or on the bus circle. You may park your car in a designated spot in the front parking lot and walk your child to the front door. Thank you for helping keep our Eagles safe!
Breakfast Reminder
Breakfast is open at MWE from 7:30 to 7:50. Students arriving after 7:50 will not have the opportunity to get breakfast at school. The only exception to this is if students ride a bus that is late.
Recently, many students have been arriving between 7:50 and 7:55, wanting to eat breakfast. This makes them late to class, missing valuable instruction. If you want your child to eat breakfast at MWE, please have them arrive before 7:50. Thank you!
T-2-4 Week: THIS WEEK!
T-2-4 week is a dedicated week to highlight various post-secondary pathways. It's a time to share information and resources about various colleges/universities, careers, and the military. Each day will also highlight one of the SBISD core values.
- Monday: Every Child (Careers) Hats Day - Students can wear Hats or headbands highlighting different careers.
- Tuesday: Collective Greatness (College/University Focus) - Students wear the colors or gear of their chosen college/university.
- Wednesday: Collaborative Spirit (Technical Training Dress-Up Day) - Dress in clothing that represents a hands-on profession.
- Thursday: Limitless Curiosity (Military Focus) Future Service Day - Students can wear gear from military branches
- Friday: Moral Compass (T-2-4 Day) - Students can wear MWE or SBISD shirts to highlight the core values of SBISD or bright and neon colors to remember to dream big.
Counselors' Corner
In SBISD, during the months of November and December we focus on being ethical and service-minded. We want Every Child to act with integrity, be personally responsible for their actions and be a civically-engaged community member. In a T-2-4 graduate this looks like a child who,
- Earns trust and respect through honest, ethical, reliable behavior- even when know one is looking. Students will understand how their words and behavior impact others. They will make good choices, tell the truth, take responsibility and accept the consequences when they do not.
- Honors commitments, exhibits strong work ethic and takes ownership of when and how to take action, lead or follow. Our students will continue to work on being a person people can count on, give their best efforts and learn when to lead and when to follow.
- Recognizes how civic engagement and personal decisions and actions impact self, others and the greater community. Students will understand and accept that they are a part of a community and will participate in it.
Try This At Home:
In your family, discuss ways you can be of service to others and why it is important. Take this month to think of a service project that everyone can participate in. Some suggestions are:
- Search the house for gently used books, games or toys to donate to a shelter or organization.
- Visit a shelter and help serve meals to others.
- Help clean the neighborhood playground.
