Implementing Google Classroom
Below you will find a 20-minute tutorial to help you get your Google Classroom set-up in case I can't sit down with you as quickly as you need me to this week. I am also including the two quick introductory Google Classroom Videos.
Introductory Tutorial to Google Classroom
While this video was produced in 2015 it is a good overview of using Classroom. The video is about 20 minutes long, but worth watching and does a good job of walking you through step by step.
Here's a helpful tip when you are setting up your classes: If you want your classes to populate in order (1st Period, 2nd Period etc) when you login to Google Classroom then you need to set them up in reverse order (7th period, 6th period, etc).

Integrating Google Classroom into your Classroom Routine
Don't be intimidated or feel pressured to be fully implemented from the very beginning. It's easy to start off using Google Classroom very simply and for basic classroom needs. For starters, you may only want to use Google Classroom as a place to post important documents (syllabus etc.) and simply post a daily announcement of the assignment and a summary of class. This will help you with the dreaded, "Did we do anything yesterday when I was out?" and "Hey, what's my make-up work?" questions. Students can login (there is an app they can download for their smart phones) and see what they need to do to catch up. Then as you and your students become more comfortable, you can expand your use of Classroom.
