Principal's Update
September 19, 2024
Hello Dayton Consolidated Families,
Welcome back, families! Fall is in the air (some days) and we are well underway. We are getting to know your child and are excited for another fantastic school year. As we step into this new season of learning, we’re eager to reconnect with returning families and extend a warm welcome to those joining our community for the first time.
This year promises to be full of new opportunities for growth and exploration. We remain committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment where every student can thrive, both academically and personally. Our dedicated teachers and staff are excited to be working with your child this year and we are confident that with your partnership, we can make it a wonderful year.
A few reminders as we look ahead. First, students in Grades 2-5 began their NWEA testing this week. Individual classroom teachers will reach out with dates specific to their classes. While this is a mandatory State of Maine assessment for all schools (grades 3 and up), as an individual school, we use it as a starting point at the beginning of the year as we look at our curriculum goals for the year.
Thank you, thank you for all your efforts ensuring your child is to school on time. We have had a fantastic start and it makes a significant difference in how your child feels starting the day. We also appreciate your vigilance to safety in our loading and unloading zone each day. We want to use your time efficiently, but student safety is always our first priority.
Please be sure to take care of some programs we partner with each day. Our backpack program is free to families (and confidential), Youth Full Maine is available each Thursday afternoon at the Town Hall, and our Flu Clinic is available to all students on Wednesday, September 25th. If you have additional family needs, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher, our school counselor, Mrs. Heather Balfour, or myself.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement.
Sincerely,
Kim Sampietro, Principal

FLU CLINIC
We are partnering with Northern Light Home Care & Hospice to provide flu clinics to our students on September 25th. Please click on this link specific to our school and complete the consent form.
Parents must complete all fields on the form, so please use NA if it doesn’t apply. Although the vaccine is provided at no charge, there is a cost to administer the vaccine. We appreciate it if you included accurate insurance information. There is no out-of-pocket cost; those without insurance will be vaccinated with the appropriate form completed. Children presenting with an incomplete form will not receive their vaccine.
All clinics will have injectable vaccines. In addition, FluMist (nasal spray) may be available at some clinics. We cannot guarantee it for all clinics. Unless you clearly mark which type of vaccine you prefer, and there is no contraindication to either type of vaccine, the nurse at the clinic will determine which type of vaccine to use for your child.
For information about flu and the vaccine, click here. If you need a translated form, are unable to complete an electronic form, or have specific questions about the vaccine clinic, please call the school nurse directly.
