Our Learning Community...
A giant thank you to our PTA for hosting the Bike Rodeo on Friday evening! It was a blast! Seeing kids and adults of all ages riding and rolling across the black top and field was so much fun. We appreciate all the volunteers that made the night possible!
We are thrilled to share that leadership opportunities for our students are growing! Students in the upper grades will have the chance to run for Student Council, where they can represent their classmates and contribute to making our school a better place. In addition to Student Council, we are also excited to introduce Leadership Ambassador roles. These positions will allow students to take on various responsibilities, from organizing the lost and found to greeting students and families and so much more! We know that these opportunities will help our students build confidence, develop leadership skills, and create a positive impact within our learning community. If your child is interested in contributing to a school wide leadership role encourage them to apply. All applications are due to teachers on Tuesday, September 17th.
Monthly Counseling Update...
We are SO thrilled to announce that our new Counseling Center in Room 8 is officially open! This dedicated space will provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for students to receive support, counseling, and resources. Our goal is to help students reach their full potential by addressing their social-emotional needs. In addition to the new counseling center, we are excited to share that students across the school have been actively engaged in classroom social and emotional learning lessons. Over the past few weeks, students have been learning valuable skills, such as focusing their attention and actively listening. These skills are not only essential for academic success but also for building strong relationships and developing life-long skills. By investing in the social-emotional well-being of our students, we are helping them to become confident, resilient, and successful individuals. We encourage parents to support their children's learning at home by practicing these skills together.

SD United for Democracy...
San Diego Unified is dedicated to fostering a vibrant, informed, and engaged community through the power of education and dialogue. To help our students to be collaborative communicators, socially-aware agents of change, and critically-thinking digital citizens, our nonpartisan SD Unified for Democracy project offers resources to develop skills to engage in civil discourse, identify bias and credibility, debate and maintain a focus on issues, and repair harm that arises from political rhetoric.
The link below offers resources and tools adults can use to engage with and learn alongside children and teens during the election cycle and beyond.
