Boys Basketball Beats Vestavia in Area Finale
The Hewitt-Trussville Boys Basketball team improved to 19-8 overall on the season with a 41-40 7A Area 6 win over Vestavia on Tuesday night. The Huskies led 37-21 with five minutes left in the game. The Rebels cut into the lead with several three-point shots. Tyler Wilson and Dave Carter converted free throws down the stretch to secure the win. The HT defense held Vestavia to five points in both the 1st quarter and 3rd quarter.
Dave Carter hit a pair of three-point shots in the first half and finished with 12 points. Ben Warren also hit a pair of shots from beyond the arc and finished with eight points. Colt Wells finished with seven points.
The Huskies will host Pell City on Friday night in a non-area contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 7pm.

Girls Basketball Picks up Win #16
The Huskies will return to action on Monday when they host Thompson.

AHSAA Bowling Regional in Trussville Postponed
Winter weather in south Alabama caused the AHSAA North Bowling Regional in Trussville to be pushed to next week. The event will now be held January 29-30 at Sparetime in Trussville.
The HT Girls will open the Regional on Wednesday morning against Homewood. The HT Boys will open play Wednesday afternoon against Mortimer Jordan.
The top four teams will advance to the AHSAA State Tournament which is now scheduled for February 3-4.
Wrestling: Weekly Update
The Hewitt-Trussville Girls Wrestling team placed 5th at the Chelsea Invitational last weekend. Kaylee Manor, Ava Claire Payne, and Mallorie Selesky all recorded top-five finishes.
The Huskies will host the annual "Theatre Match" on January 28 against Moody. The match will be held on the stage in the HTHS Auditorium.

The 7th Grade Girls Basketball team opened the Metro Tournament with a 52-9 win over Oak Mountain. The 7th Grade Girls tournament is being held at HTMS. Sophie Bullington led the Huskies with 18 points. Livie Bullington scored 16 points and Sophia Brisco added nine points.
8th Grade Boys Win in Overtime
The HTMS 8th grade Basketball team advanced to the tournament semifinals with a 53-52 overtime win over Oak Mountain. The Huskies will face Bumpus at 4:30pm on Friday with the place in the championship game on the line.
Jack Floyd scored 12 points and Zac Parks scored 11 points. Joseph Deibert and Moses Morrison had eight points each. Caleb Watkins hit a three-point shot at the end of regulation to send the game to overtime. At the end of the extra period, Jack Floyd rebounded a missed shot and scored the game-winning basket.
HTMS Wins Final Regular Season Dual
The HTMS Wrestling team defeated Bragg 77-6 on Thursday. These Huskies picked up wins:
Colt Stewart, Joey Budd, William Hodgin, Trevon McCown-Adams, Griffin Alfano, Jameson Brandon, Henry Bridges, Jamari Green, Garrett Folds, Kaiden Hunt, Fischer James, Hunter Jordan, and I'zaah Gray.
The Huskies will compete in the Metro Tournament this weekend.
