Electronic Backpack & Newsletter
9/26/24
Hello DeMello Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying the first days of fall!
This week I was able to observe many reading and math lessons in our K, 1st and 2nd grade wing that we affectionately call Littleland. Our youngest learners are growing so much. In one day, I witnessed them investigating sounds that make up words, learning phonics rules, working with 10 frames in math and discussing the stages of an apple from blossom to ripe fruit. What a love for learning your students show up with every single day. They are filled with curiosity, confidence and pure delight.
The teachers and I can hardly believe that September is almost over! We have lots planned for the upcoming month, including our annual Halloween parade and new family night tradition--Trunk or Treat. We will be sharing more details about both events in the next couple of weeks.
We wish you a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing your students on Monday morning.
Best,
Mrs. Correia
The DeMello PTO Needs YOU!
This week marked the first meeting of our DeMello/Cushman PTO. As many of you know, our PTO not only funds field trips and cultural programs, they also sponsor family nights, 5th grade recognition events, Field Day and many other initiatives throughout the school year. Their unwavering support and commitment to our students and staff make DeMello the incredible place that it is! I am communicating this to you because the PTO NEEDS YOU! Attendance post-pandemic has decreased and there were only a handful of parents at this week's meeting. The strength of the PTO resides within its membership--we need families to join us in making this year the best yet for our students. I will always include information on PTO meetings in this newsletter. You may also join the DeMello/Cushman FaceBook page to learn about how you can help our school. We hope to see you at our next meeting!
STILL Looking for VOLUNTEERS
DeMello School needs your help! We are looking for volunteers to assist us at recess anytime between 11:00 and 12:35. Volunteers would be responsible to helping to run games (soccer, football, kickball). Any time that you can give would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email me at if you are interested in helping 🙂
