Welcome Back!
Dear Families and Community,
What a gift to come back from spring vacation on such a beautiful spring day!
Today kicks off the beginning of Terra Linda's One School, One Book initiative. Please see the section below for details and the entire reading schedule. We are so grateful to our PTC for this opportunity!
Did you know STEAM stands for Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics? If you have an expertise or interest in any of those areas and would like to support a hands-on booth for STEAM Night on Friday, April 26th from 5:30-7:30pm, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators at volunteers@terralindaptc.org. Be sure to indicate your interest in running a booth for STEAM Night, and they will share your interest with the event chairperson. The cost of all materials will be reimbursed.
Please make sure you are aware that students are off school Monday and Tuesday next week due to two teacher work days in a row - a District Grading Day followed by a District Staff Development Day. Students will attend school Wednesday, April 10-Friday, April 12 next week.
It was truly wonderful to have our Terra Linda Tigers back today. ❤️ Looking forward to a great week ahead!
With appreciation,
Wendy

Too Sick for School Reminders
We have seen an increase in illnesses in our community over the last month. We thought it would be helpful to remind families about the District's Too Sick for School policies.
Please follow the following guidelines in keeping your student(s) home from school:
*They have a fever greater than 100.4. Once your student has been fever free for 24 hours without taking any fever-reducing medication, they can return to school.
*They have had one or more episodes of vomiting that are unexplained. Once your student has been symptom free for 48 hours, they can return to school.
*They have three loose or watery stools in a day or are unable to control bowel movements. Once your student has been symptom free for 48 hours, they can return to school.
*They have a new cough illness or difficulty breathing. Once your student's symptoms are improving for 24 hours, they can return to school.
*They have a skin rash or open sores. Once your student's rash is gone or the sores are dried and can be completely covered, they can return to school.
Please call the office if you have any questions. We are here to help!
School Improvement Plan News /One School, One Book
We made a bold academic goal this year to increase our reading scores from 58.6% in 2022-23 to 67% in 2023-24 (as measured by the state reading assessment). To that end, we are thrilled to be joining with our Parent Teacher Club in kicking off One School, One Book this week! America 250: America’s Field Trip
In 2026, the United States will mark our Semiquincentennial: the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Today’s young people are the leaders, innovators, and thinkers who will shape the next 250 years — and it’s important their voices are heard as we commemorate this historic milestone.
America’s Field Trip is a new contest that invites students across the country in grades 3–12 to be part of America’s 250th anniversary by sharing their perspectives on what America means to them — and earning the opportunity to participate in unforgettable field trip experiences at some of the nation’s most iconic historic and cultural landmarks. Students may submit artwork, videos, or essays in response to the contest’s prompt: “What does America mean to you?” Additional Information

Language Arts / English Language Proficiency Elementary Curriculum Adoption
The Beaverton School District is currently engaged in an Elementary LA / ELP curriculum adoption. A Curriculum Adoption Committee is created for the purpose of providing instructional resource recommendations to the Beaverton School District School Board. The committee has met several times since December and will continue through the Spring of 2024.
Community members are invited to follow the work of the Adoption Committee on the LA / ELP webpage The page contains meeting session notes, links to resources and the opportunity to input comments and ask questions.
For the safety of our children!
Please, during drop-off and pick-up:
Observe all stop signs.
Please remember that the speed limit on campus is 10 miles per hour.
Drop students off at the yellow line only. (If you let them out sooner, it is a safety issue and interferes with the flow.)
If you require Terra Linda staff assistance with your student, please pull all the way up past the yellow line.

• Borrow ebooks in Sora from BSD and the public library (directions)
• Access Homework Help
• Access additional digital content
For more details about these cards, please see the BSD webpage about the partnership. Public Library Locations: Map and Hours
Terra Linda's Food and Hygiene Pantry
Thanks to our community's generous support of our food and hygiene drive, we have been able to collect remaining items and create Terra Linda's first Food and Hygiene pantry.
We hope to sustain this pantry throughout the school year for Terra Linda families.
We will gladly continue to accept food and hygiene donations to support our families. If you have items you would like to donate, please send them to school with your students or drop them off in the office.
Any families who would like to "shop" in our pantry, please call or stop by the office.
Once again, thank you for your continued support and generosity!
