All kids matter, are important, and can grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
OMS PRIDE
It has been a great start to the school year at OMS! Students and staff are settling into new routines and schedules, getting to know each other, and digging into curriculum.
The PRIDE program is up and running and staff have given out over 180 electronic PRIDE awards to students. As a parent, you will receive an email notification when your child has received a PRIDE award including why the award was given. Each Monday we randomly select two students from each grade level who earned a PRIDE award from the week prior to receive a special prize in the office.
Homecoming Week
Homecoming week is October 1-4. Student council has organized great activities including dress-up days and a fall party in the afternoon following the parade on Friday, October 4th.

They keep our school clean and safe along with putting smiles on the faces of our kids and adults! Thank you Bruce, Jacob, and Derek for all you do!

October is Bullying Prevention Month
How does OMS help to prevent bullying behavior?
Advisory: Developmental Designs is a uniform framework we utilize in order to help students learn and understand how to handle situations where unkind words and actions are witnessed.
Social Emotional Learning: We directly teach students how to be self-aware, socially-aware, build relationship skills, make responsible decisions, and practice self-management skills.
Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS): Students are recognized and rewarded for behaviors and choices that positively impact our learning environment. We select two students from each grade weekly to receive special awards and recognize grade level students of the quarter.
Restorative Practices: When students have a difficult time with each other, we seek to repair harm and to create an agreement/plan moving forward to support one another in our learning environment.
Mentoring: Under the supervision of a staff member, OHS students meet with OMS learners to build connections and provide a positive role model.
Parent Communication: The staff at OMS value a strong partnership with families. We seek to keep open lines of communication and make sure parents are informed. Middle school is a time where emotions can sometimes become dysregulated, perceptions can be unique, and kids can make mistakes they will have the opportunity to grow from.
