Superintendents Comments and Reports to the Board of Education
- Lieutenant Colonel Jasmin Moghbeli visited Baldwin High School and Lenox Elementary School last week, much to the delight of our students. Some of the most memorable moments included observing our students engaging with her, seeing her as a role model, and witnessing the heartwarming reunion between her and her former teachers.
-
Dr. Camhi was happy to share that for the 2nd year in a row, Baldwin High School has achieved Silver Distinction on the AP Honor Roll.
Additionally, Baldwin High School was recognized with a 2024 College Success Award from GreatSchools.org. Now in its sixth year, the College Success Award recognizes public high schools that excel at preparing students for college and beyond. Baldwin High School is one of only 1,436 public high schools across the nation to win this year's award, which is based on college preparation and postsecondary data shared by each state.
Dr. Camhi reported that she welcomed several distinguished guests to Baldwin High School on three separate occasions: the president of Nassau Community College, the superintendent of Nassau BOCES, and Lt. Col. Jack Nugent, a navy reservist and New York workforce lead for the U.S. Navy Maritime Industrial Base. During their visits, they had an opportunity to learn about Baldwin UFSD’s programs, interacted with our remarkable students, and were thoroughly impressed by the educational opportunities available in Baldwin.

Champion of Change Award
The New York State School Boards Association (NYSSBA) recognized Baldwin UFSD with two “Champion of Change” awards, one for the Baldwin Schools Wellness Center and another for the Brookside Shark Tank Project. NYSSBA’s Champions of Change Recognition program highlights the many districts and BOCES programs and initiatives that bring positive, meaningful change to the students, communities and districts of New York. On behalf of Robert S. Schneider, CPA, CAE, NYSSBA’s Executive Director, Bernadette Smith, who also sits on the Nassau Suffolk School Boards Association (N-SSBA) committee, presented each “Champion of Change” banner to the district. This is the fourth time the district has been honored with this award.
High School Musical Preview: The Unsinkable Molly Brown
The cast of Baldwin High School's fall musical, "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," gave a sneak preview. This year's production holds special significance as the high school has been awarded the $10,000 Molly Brown Grant, making it the only school in New York to receive this honor. Performances are Thursday, November 21, 4 PM; Friday, November 22, 7 PM; and Saturday, November 23, 2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
