Message from Mr. Wilson
Dear Lion Family,
Exciting Times at Randle High School! As we move through this exciting time of year, there are many accomplishments and updates I’d like to share with you. It is truly a great time to be a Randle Lion!
First, I want to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Theatre Program. Our students’ production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" has received numerous nominations from the prestigious Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) Tommy Tune Awards! These nominations include Outstanding Musical, Outstanding Directors, Lead Actors, Overall Technical Design, and more. We are so proud of our talented students and the hard work they have put into this production. For more information about the Tommy Tune Awards and the significance of these nominations, please visit this link.
Additionally, our Varsity Football team is making great strides toward their goals! Last Thursday night, they moved one step closer to the playoffs. This Friday, we’ll be facing Elgin at 7:00 PM in Bryan, Texas. We will be playing at Merrill Green Stadium. The address to the stadium is 3310 Oak Ridge Dr. Bryan, TX 77802 or you can click the link Bryan ISD Sports Facilities. As of right now Bryan ISD has not provided the district with the payment link for tickets. We have been provided with the projected cost of presale tickets, which will be $6 and game day tickets will be $8.
As we look ahead to the second semester, I want to inform you of an important update regarding our tardy policy. After thoughtful discussions with our leadership team, we’ve decided to make a change. Currently, tardies reset every six weeks, but starting in the second semester, tardies will no longer reset. We believe this change will help emphasize the importance of punctuality and respect for instructional time. Further details on the consequences for tardies at each level will be communicated soon. Please know that we will continue to follow the district policies on dress code and cell phone use.
Please also mark your calendars for December 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th, when our students will be taking their state assessments (EOC RETAKES ONLY). These will be school shutdown days, so please plan accordingly.
Finally, as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for each of you. I hope this season brings you a sense of peace and joy as you spend time with family, friends, and those you hold dear.
Wishing you all a blessed and restful Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Mr. Brian Wilson

Important Semester Exam Exemption Information
Students and Parents,
To prepare for semester exam exemptions, we need to inform you of an update to practices at Dr. Thomas Randle High School. With the update of LCISD Board Policy EIAA (Local), there are new requirements and expectations for student attendance on the day of the scheduled exam, even if they are exempt from the assessment. Below are the guidelines for all students exempting an exam:
- Students need to bring their school IDs to be counted present.
- Students will report daily to their scheduled class to check in and be counted present by the teacher of record, no later than the campus attendance time of 10:00 am.
- If the student fails to attend class on the day of the exam to be counted present, they will be counted absent and forfeit their exemption.
- Students arriving to the classroom after 10:00 am will be counted absent for the day and forfeit their exemption.
- If a student fails to be present on the day of the exam, the student shall be marked absent, receive a zero, and shall be required to take the assessment later, as determined by the campus administration.
- If the assessment is not taken, the student shall earn a zero for the final/semester examination grade (EIAA (Local).
- Once attendance is taken, an announcement will be made to excuse EXEMPT students, that are remaining on campus, to various campus locations by grade level, and may be checked out of school early.
- All parents and students must follow campus procedures for checking students out of school early.
- All parents and students must follow campus procedures for checking students out of school, which could include:

LCISD REZONING for 2025-2026
Why did Lamar CISD rezone students for the 2025-2026 school year?
The district is opening new campuses for the 2025-2026 school year and needs to have students zoned to these schools. Additionally, the district is rezoning to optimize resources, balance student populations across schools, and enhance educational opportunities for all students. This decision is based on current enrollment trends and future projections.
How do I know if my family has been rezoned for next school year?
- Go to the Lamar CISD website – www.lcisd.org
- At the top of the page, click on “Find My School”
- Using the dropdown arrow next to “School Year 2024-25”, select “School Year 2025-26”
- Begin entering your home address in the search bar. Once you see your address, click on that address
- On the left-hand side of the site, you will see the elementary, middle school, junior high school, and high school that your home is zoned for in Lamar CISD
Are there any ways my high school student(s) may remain at their current school/track, even if we were rezoned for the 2025-2026 school year?
- For students who will be in high school next year, there are only two options for students to remain at their current campus:
- If your child will be a senior during the 2025-2026 school year, they can remain at their current high school. A form was available in Skyward Family Access for current Juniors who are rezoned for the next school year to select a campus. The form was due Friday, October 11, 2024.
- For students involved in sports or other University Interscholastic League (UIL) activities, there may be an opportunity to continue at their current school if they meet certain criteria. The UIL Legacy Provision application is available below. The application will be shared with all students and is due February 28, 2025, for fall/winter UIL activities and April 18, 2025, for spring UIL activities.
- What about students zoned to a new middle school or junior high? The students are expected to attend their zoned campus.
- What about students zoned to a new elementary school for the 2025-2026 school year? Current 4th-grade students will have an opportunity to apply for the Legacy Provision to remain at their current school. More information about this process will be shared in the spring semester.

SHSU AGcelerate Day
A select group of TRHS students attended the Sam Houston State University AGcelerate field trip with Mrs. Adrian!
First, students visited the Ag Engineering and Technology station where they learned how to operate heavy machinery and meet the professors. Second, they explored all the animal science stations. The first station was wildlife. The professor spoke about conservation and the anatomy of a deer. They even had an opportunity to practice archery! Their next station was with an animal science professor who brought one of her Australian shepherds to demonstrate herding ducks using her animal handling skills.
The last and the favorite section of the day was getting to touch and learn all about the ruminant digestive system. They had a real deer digestive system where they could touch and look at the different compartments in a ruminant digestive system. Afterwards they got to visit Mongo, a steer that is cannulated. They got to stick their hands into his rumen and see digestion happening from his breakfast he ate. They got to take samples of it from his rumen and place it under a microscope as well to see all the microbes in action!
The last stop was the Sam Houston statue. Students requested a stop on the way home because they had to see just how big it was close up. It was a fun day. They are very excited for college and learned a lot!

Library News
Clubs & Organizations
LCISD now follows CDC guidelines for respiratory illnesses, therefore our COVID protocols are the same as those for the flu and stomach viruses. Children must be free of fever (less than 100.0 degrees), diarrhea, vomiting, and severe cough for 24 hours without the use of medications (such as Tylenol, Advil/Motrin, or anti-diarrheal meds, etc.) before returning to school. Children must also be free of diarrhea and vomiting for 24 hours before returning to school and need to be eating and drinking without any issues. If a child vomits two or more times within 24 hours, they will need to stay home for at least 24 hours to ensure they are not contagious.
If your child has been diagnosed with a contagious condition such as pink eye or strep throat, the student must have been on antibiotics for 24 hours before returning to school. If your child has chickenpox, they must stay home until all pustules are dried up. For head lice, please treat before returning to school. Impetigo or ringworm must be receiving treatment and must be covered while at school. We want all students in school/class as much as possible. However, if your student is sick, please help us keep not just your student safe and well, but all the students and staff. Please keep them home so that we can minimize the spread of illness and provide a great learning environment for our students.
Warm Regards,
J.R. Folkens BSN, RN, CEN
School Nurse
Dr. Thomas E. Randle High School
Clinic: 832-223-5826
Email: jennifer.folkens@lcisd.org
Important Medication Policy Notice:
Students are not allowed to carry any type of medication in their backpacks. This includes over-the-counter medications like Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, Aleve, Midol, Premarin, Tums, Claritin, Benadryl, Zyrtec, cough drops, cold medication, and more. All medication, whether over-the-counter or prescription, must be administered through the school clinic.
Guidelines for Medication Administration:
- Over-the-counter and prescription medications must be brought to school by a parent or guardian.
- Parents must provide a signed authorization form, completed by both the physician and the parent, which includes the medication name, dosage, reason, and administration time.
- Parents are required to bring only the necessary amount of medication for school use, and all medication must be in its original container.
- Prescription medications must be in the original pharmacy container with the child's name, medication date, and dosing instructions. Parents may request a second bottle from the pharmacy for school use.
- Please note: Medications such as antibiotics prescribed for three times a day or every eight hours should be administered at home (e.g., before breakfast, after school, and before bedtime).
We also ask that you remind your student about this policy to ensure compliance.
Exceptions:
- Only EpiPens and asthma inhalers may be carried by students, provided they have the appropriate forms completed by both the physician and the parent.
Please be aware:
- The clinic does not stock over-the-counter medications (e.g., Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, Midol, allergy medications, Tums, cough drops). Medication can only be administered if sent by the parent or guardian. Please refrain from calling the nurse to request these medications be provided to your student.
Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our students safe and healthy.
Schedules & Expectations
Dress Code Expectations
Most Common Dress Code Violations
We want to be VERY CLEAR. Dress code is a real thing at Randle High School. What students wear at home or on the weekend may not be appropriate for school. Please help us by ensuring that your student adheres to the dress code. Violations may result in being sent home. We appreciate your assistance in helping us make learning the main focus.
Parent Standards of Conduct
Lamar CISD welcomes parents and guardians to be engaged and involved in student academics and activities. Mutually respectful behavior at school campuses and in interactions with campus staff is essential for fostering a positive and productive school environment. Establishing clear parent/guardian standards of conduct sets expectations and creates a respectful and supportive atmosphere for everyone involved.
- Safety and Security: Parents/guardians must comply with safety and security protocols on campus, including sign-in procedures and visitor badges.
- Adherence to School Policies: Parents/guardians must familiarize themselves with school policies and follow them, including rules related to student drop-off and pick-up, dress code, and behavior expectations.
- Respectful Communication: Parents/guardians must communicate with school staff in a respectful and courteous manner. This includes using appropriate language, listening to staff members’ perspectives, and refraining from disrespectful or aggressive behavior.
- Appropriate Use of Technology: Parents/guardians are expected to use technology, such as email or messaging apps, responsibly when communicating with school staff.
- Appropriate Time and Place: Parents/guardians are expected to understand the appropriate times and locations for discussions with teachers or school staff. There may be designated parent-teacher conferences or specific office hours when staff can address concerns.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: Parents/guardians must respect the privacy and confidentiality of other students and families. Discussions about individual students must be conducted privately and not shared with others.
- Conflict Resolution: Parents/guardians are expected to engage in constructive conflict resolution if they have concerns or disagreements with school staff. This includes seeking appropriate channels for dispute resolution and avoiding confrontations on campus.
- Feedback and Suggestions: Parents/guardians should feel welcome to provide feedback and suggestions to the school administration but should do so in a constructive and respectful manner.
Prohibited Behaviors
In order to provide a peaceful and safe school environment, Lamar CISD prohibits the following behaviors by parents/guardians and visitors:
- Abusive, threatening, profane or harassing communication, either in person, by e-mail or text/voicemail/phone or other written or verbal communication
- Disruptive behavior that interferes or threatens to interfere with campus operations, including the effective operation of a classroom, an employee’s office or duty station, a campus lobby, or school grounds, including sporting events, parking lots and car-pickup
- Threatening to do bodily harm to a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Threatening to damage the property of a District employee, visitor, fellow parent/guardian or student
- Damaging or destruction of school property
Consequences
Depending upon the severity of the incident, parents/guardians or visitors may be removed from or otherwise banned from campus and participation in school-sponsored events under the criminal trespass laws.
In situations involving lesser infractions or where remediation is viable, a warning will be provided in writing prior to the filing of trespass and issuance of a formal ban. Should a parent/guardian or visitor fail to heed the direction issued in the warning, a ban or other restrictions designed to deter the conduct will follow.
No restriction, however, will prevent the parent/guardian from working collaboratively with the campus or district to meet the child’s educational needs, nor will a parent/guardian be excluded from a child’s IEP meeting.
Specific procedures for campus warning and ban decisions can be found in policy GKA (LEGAL) and GKA (LOCAL), as well as the Lamar CISD Student Handbook.
