Hallsville ISD
Parent, Family, and Community: Fall 2024
Our Goal
At HISD we strive to partner with families to raise highly competent, well educated students. Please reach out to your campus or the district if we can assist you in meeting the challenges of raising kids; it's the hardest (but most rewarding) job we'll ever do as parents and educators.

HISD will have one Parent Communication App!
TalkingPoints
Talking Points is up and running! You should be getting information from your campuses through this app.
Some frequently asked questions/common issue that have arisen during this transition:
Who receives the messages?
Anyone listed in your Skyward Family Portal as a family member should receive texts.
Do I have to use the app?
No
My account does not say my name. How do I fix it?
TP automatically pulls from Skyward. After you have updated the app, you may email ksimpson@hisd.com or awhittle@hisd.com
Do I need a code to join a class?
You do not need a code. You are automatically enrolled in TP. You do not even need the APP. You can save the number that "texted" you as your class name and message/reply to it at any point.
My student's teacher/sponsor is still using another platform.
Talking Points does not have access to student cell numbers so sponsors are still using Remind 101 and Sports You to communicate with students. However, every organization should communicate with parents through Talking Points.

HISD Nutritional Backpack Program
To Make a Donation
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you if you participated last year and personally request your consideration and support for the Hallsville ISD Nutritional Backpacks for Kids Project for the 2024-2025 school year.
Hallsville ISD began this project in December, 2006, to address a growing need within our school. The purpose of this project is to provide food on weekends and holidays to children that exhibit signs of chronic hunger and do not have food when they are not in school.
This project relies solely on the generous donations of our community. Our counselors distribute the food to the students and our bags are packed by volunteers within the community. Since we have no overhead with this project, 100% of all donations go toward the purchase of the food.
We are asking that you consider making a donation to this project. All donations are tax deductible. Donations can be made by check, cash, or credit card.
A donation form is included and should be sent to:

c/o Federal/Special Programs
P.O. Box 810
Hallsville, TX 75650
Checks should be made out to: Hallsville ISD Backpack Project.

Your continued support is critical to meeting the nutritional needs of our students.
