LAKEWOOD HEALTH SCREENINGS
Tuesday and Wednesday Sept. 17-18, 2024
All PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 3rd graders will be screened for height, weight, vision, and hearing by the Tomball ISD Health Services screening team/nurse. Any 2nd or 4th grade student who is new to Tomball ISD will also be screened. These screenings are required by the state of Texas. The goal is to find any deficiencies in hearing, vision, or a positive acanthosis nigricans marker on the back of the neck that need to be evaluated by a physician. The process of screening this many children, and then rescreening a child again if they failed any area will take a few weeks. Only abnormal results are communicated to a parent as we screen over 500 kids.
**Please make sure your child has their eyeglasses with them on Sept 17-18 **

SPARK
SPARK Up the school year!
Thanks to a partnership between Tomball ISD and the Harris County Public Library (HCPL), SPARK will provide access to learning resources through the HCPL including print books, research materials, audio books and more. Staff, students, and families now have the convenience of checking out books from the Harris County Public Library’s extensive collection at home through the Tomball Enterprise Catalog. Families may also visit the local HCPL branch and use the SPARK card to check-out books and materials. Books and materials checked out at home may be delivered and returned to your child’s school library saving families time

Lunch Visitors
Lunch is a part of the instructional day and each lunch lasts 30 minutes. As a fast-growth district with limited space in the cafeteria, it is important for us to establish our procedures and lunch expectations with the students during the first weeks of school.
•Parents are welcome to come have lunch with their child(ren) starting on Monday, September 23rd.While in the cafeteria, you may eat at the designated tables with your child only. Please remember that photos and video of other students in the cafeteria is prohibited. All visitors must bring their driver's license with them to campus to check in at the front office, and lunch visitors must be listed as an emergency contact. We will be continuing with our same process as last year for visitors, see below:
•Lunch Visitor Schedule starting on Monday, September 23rd:
- Mondays - Students with last names A - D
- Tuesdays - Students with last names E - L
- Wednesdays - Students with last names M - R
- Thursdays - Students with last names S - Z
- Friday, September 27th - Students with last names A - D
Parents of students with August and September birthdays are permitted to have lunch with their child(ren) on the day of their birthday beginning on Monday, August 19th.
How will birthdays be celebrated on campus?
Our students are extremely important to us, and we want them to feel celebrated. To ensure the safety of all students, birthday treats must be store bought and sealed in the store bought package. Individually packaged/wrapped treats by the store are preferred. For your convenience, the school cafeteria will have ice cream treats available for purchase as well. If you would like to purchase items from the cafeteria, please contact your child’s teacher ASAP so we can help make arrangements for this purchase prior to arriving at the cafeteria.
Lost ID's
If your student has lost one of their ID badges, please go to https://schoolcashonline.com/ to purchase a new one. After you have purchased it, please email your receipt to lesreceptionist@tomballisd.net so that the front office can print the new ID badge.
Emails to Front Desk
If you are needing to send a change of transportation, doctor's note, or absence excuse, please send them to lesreceptionist@tomballisd.net This ensures that the front desk sees the note and the transportation change will be made for the day. The cutoff time for transportation changes is 3:00 pm.
Medicine drop off
Children CANNOT be in the possession of medicine at any time in school for safety reasons. This includes
cough drops, topical creams, and prescription medicine. ANY medication must be brought to Nurse Suzanne and a form will need to be filled out. All prescription medicine must have a doctor's signature.
