GLOW GAZETTE
September 23, 2024
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Students & Parents,
Last week was certainly different than our typical weeks at GLOW due to the storm that impacted our region last Monday. While we have heard from a couple of families who were impacted by the rain and flooding, we hope that the rest of our school community fared well in that storm and were able to return to your normal routines quickly.
It was so nice to see so many of our families at our Family Night on Thursday. If you were unable to attend on Thursday, we look forward to welcoming all families again in the coming months. We value these opportunities to engage with the families of our students and to share the learning taking place in our school.
In addition to engaging with families, we also know how important it is for our students to have opportunities to be involved in our school community outside of the traditional school day. As such, our staff offers a wide variety of clubs and extra-curricular activities for students. These are promoted and advertised through our daily morning announcement video, as well as through our weekly newsletter. We have had a few requests for a comprehensive list, which we have shared in the newsletter below. I am certain that additional clubs will be added throughout the year, and we will also let you know when that occurs. I hope your student can find an opportunity to participate in one of these opportunities.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
Kate B. Tayloe
Principal
HAPPENING THIS WEEK!
Clubs & Extra-Curricular Activities
We have had a few requests for a comprehensive list of our Clubs & Extra-Curricular Activities. I have added a link to the current list below; however, please note that additions may be made throughout the year. Our staff is responsive to the needs/requests of our students, so it is not uncommon for a staff member to make a request to add a club or extra-curricular activity mid-year. We will update students and parents when that occurs, but for now, you can see a list of current offerings, target groups for participation, meeting months, days, and times, as well as staff sponsor information. We hope this is helpful as we want all of our students to find ways to connect and be more involved in our school community outside of the traditional school day.

7th Grade Families, Please check with your students about their upcoming college visit to Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC on 9/26 or 9/27. Due to the distance from GLOW, we have to depart by 7:30 a.m. to arrive to FSU on time and return before afternoon dismissal. AM GLOW bus transportation will not arrive in time, so we ask for alternative transportation to be arranged.
