Principal's Corner
The onset of chilly weather also marks the nearing of the end of our Fall Sports Programs. I would like to extend a huge thank you to our student-athletes and coaches for a job well done this season. In particular, a huge shout out to our boys soccer program. Our Varsity Tiger Soccer team has made it to the state tournament and our JV squad made it to the semi-finals of the BIT tournament. Job well done gentlemen!
November also marks the end of Marking Period 1 which will end on Tuesday, November 12th. Please check out our Upcoming Events & Important Dates section at the end of the newsletter for this and other dates to keep in mind as we begin November.
Lastly, I'd like to share some great news regarding our student attendance. PPHS weekly attendance average for the month of October is 96.5%. We have sustained our high attendance average which was 96.4% in September. Thank you to our students and families for your commitment to getting to school. As the weather gets colder, we must double down on our commitment to being present every day. Please also remind your children to get here on time as we tend to see a dip in our attendance and increase in our tardies as the colder months approach.
πππSeptember Student and Teacher of the Monthπππ
The Student and Teacher of the month is a new recognition program for the 24-25 SY. Students and Teachers nominate individuals who emulate our R.O.A.R. motto and Show Your Stripes school year theme.
Cassidy Kim - September Student of the Month
Mr. Santana - September Teacher of the Month
Congratulations to Mr. Santana, PPHS Math teacher, who earned the title of September Teacher of the Month. Mr. Santana has many great qualities that make him worthy of such recognition but, don't take my word for it, here are some words that students used to describe Mr. Santana:
- Engaging
- Amazing
- Creates a comfortable environment
- Makes math fun!
- Funny
Veterans Day - November 11
On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, was declared during the First World War, then known as "the Great War." Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a federal holiday in the United States in 1938. In the aftermath of WWII and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day, a holiday dedicated to American veterans of all wars. The PPHS community thanks all of our veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice for our country.
π October Recap π
A big congratulations to our Fall student-athletes and coaches on a job well done! All our programs put their best foot forward in their competitions. Many teams achieved success this season and some athletes beat personal bests. With that said, regardless of wins/losses and personal achievements or hardships, you laced up and showed up. We are proud of all of you! Pictured above are some of our athletes. First picture (left to right): Coach Almeida, Junior student-athlete Valerie Ramirez, Coach Hutchinson, Coach Travia.
