Dear EWRSD Community:
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, I would like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude and continued appreciation to the students, staff, and families of the East Windsor Regional School District.
I continue to be grateful for our exemplary educators and staff, whose tireless efforts, steadfast commitment, and constant creativity are integral to cultivating safe and supportive learning environments for our children. Their diligence to nurture and guide our students, serves as the foundation for their continued development and independence. Regardless of a specific role or title, I am truly thankful for the dedication that our staff members continue to display each day.
Our amazing students are the heart of our schools and represent our greatest motivation. Their refreshing curiosity and enthusiasm continue to remind us of our mission and immense responsibility as a school district. Their unique perspectives and diverse talents contribute to our vibrant and inclusive learning communities. I continue to be thankful for our phenomenal students and value the enthusiasm and spontaneity they bring to classrooms each day.
As a district, we are also fortunate to have caring and encouraging families, whose partnership is critical to the educational journey of our students. Their unconditional support is a key ingredient to sustaining a positive and nurturing educational community that extends beyond classroom walls. I am humbled and honored that our families have selected the East Windsor Regional School District as the place to educate their children.
As we take a moment to spend time with those we care about this Thanksgiving, I encourage us to reflect on what is most important in our lives and remember the strength of community. Our collective efforts will continue to positively contribute to the academic and social-emotional development of our students.
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time with loved ones.
Sincerely,
Mark Daniels
Superintendent of Schools
EMK's Watch Us Grow Event
At Ethel McKnight Elementary School, families planted seeds, listened to “The Bad Seed,” in English or Spanish, and “Sprout Branches Out.” We learned about the importance of daily attendance and reading at home to help our children grow, just like plants need water and sunlight for maximum growth. Everyone had fun planting vegetable and herbs seeds to start a windowsill garden at home!
Students from the Peddie School brought the Seed Library to EMK and taught us about native plants.
Fun Read Alouds for our students, former students, and family members!
Perry L. Drew Elementary School Students participated in a cool STEM turkey race project in their STEM lab!
Congratulations to PLD's featured artist of the month!
Ms. Castaneda's class at Ethel McKnight Elementary School read Balloons over Broadway and created their own balloons! Yes, they did a parade too!
Thank you to everyone who participated in Hightstown High School's Children’s Grief Awareness Day activity. Butterflies with loved one’s names are displayed in the front window.
🦋 Grief is not a sign of weakness. It is, rather a healthy and fitting response to a loss. 💙
Winter sports are underway at Hightstown!
Thank you to Downtown Hightstown for letting Hightstown High School artists come down and help spread some holiday cheer throughout the local businesses in town for our Annual Holiday Window Paintings!
Be sure to check them out in person and see their beautiful work! Students painted windows at Old Hights Brewery, Little Key Coffee, Rudy's, Tavern on the Lake, Hightstown Diner & Cranbury Design Center.
Voting details for your favorite windows will be shared out soon.

Location: Kreps Middle School, 5 Kent Lane, East Windsor 08520
Why Native Plants? Native plants are the ultimate low-maintenance solution for your garden—no fertilizers, no amendments, and little to no watering needed! These plants not only thrive effortlessly but also provide essential food and shelter for native bees, butterflies, birds, and other beneficial wildlife.
As a bonus, they help reduce flooding, improve water quality, and invite nature’s beauty right to your doorstep.
New to Native Gardening? No problem! Join us for our educational Zoom workshop to learn about how to care for your jugs, prep garden beds, and choose the perfect plants with expert guidance. Thursday, January 2, 7:00–8:30 p.m.
Make sure you RSVP in order to receive the Zoom link
Why is the event in the Winter? Most native plants need 30-90 cold nights to germinate, so after you sow your seeds you put them outside and let them do their thing (dip jugs into water as needed in the warm days of spring)
Seed Availability: Check out our website for details on our vast selection and their growing conditions.
